Family Optometry was founded by Dr. Robert Hutchinson in Marion in 1981, and was known as Marion Family Optometrists. In 1994, he began a second location in Wabash, known as Family Optometry. In early 2015, the Marion office also assumed the Family Optometry name. Dr. Hutchinson operated both the Marion and Wabash offices by himself until Dr. Dale joined him in 2007.

At Family Optometry, our doctors and staff provide an array of eye care services. Our team of eye care professionals is experienced and friendly. We're here to help all patients understand their benefits, schedule appointments, and fulfill their eye doctor's orders. Our practice can give you guidance in picking out your perfect pair of eyewear, and our friendly office staff is knowledgeable about billing and benefits coverage.
Brandy, our insurance and billing specialist, has been with Family Optometry since 2011. Sorting out insurance benefits can sometimes be confusing, but Brandy works hard to ensure that claims are processed correctly, and your insurance benefits are maximized. In between filing claims, we often catch Brandy teasing and joking with her coworkers, adding to the fun of our office.

This place is a joke. Went in on a Thursday. They told me and my 6 year old he needs to go to s specialist and he may have to have surgery. Who says that go a 6 year old. Then when they cant get threw they tell me they will call me shortly. Nothing all day. Nothing Friday. I call them Monday twice. Finally they tell me they have no idea they will call to set it up and call me back in a few minutes. Tuesday morning they finally call to let me know the specialist will call me.

This is my first eye doctor I guess u could say! I’ve been long over due for glasses for years now but I had no insurance... finally now have my first set of glasses which I love by the way! I love all the staff here they are all very helpful, kind, welcoming and just make u feel right at home every time u walk thru the door!! The only reason I did 4 out of 5 stars is bc of the very long wait to get my glasses but that was mostly not their fault bc they had to wait for lions club to approve paying for them but then some how I thought I was waiting to hear from them and come to find out one of

We LOVE Family Optometry!! My daughter recently decided she wanted to get contacts and we have been so very impressed with the whole process with their office!! Valerie is absolutely the best!! She was so kind, reassuring, and patient as my daughter spent hours trying to get them in and out of her eyes- but with encouragement from Valerie she was able to get it and LOVES them!! Thank you all for being so kind and welcoming every time we come through the door!
