Betsie River Canoes and Campground offers affordable camping and kayak trips down the adventurous Betsie River. Your family can explore our 43 acres by riding your quad, dirt bike or UTV from our trailhead leading to 400 acres of state land, go fishing, hike or bike our trails, play a volleyball or horseshoe tournament, go disc golfing and the children can play in the playground.
During these exciting activities, you won't be able to resist the smell of a BBQ picnic lunch, so you'll want to fire-up the grill for a tasty treat. To relax in the evening, bring the kids for ice cream at the camp store. The Betsie River is a designated Scenic and Wildlife Area in Northern Michigan, which provides an adventurous outdoor setting, although you must keep alert for branches and logs.

Because of the difficulty of this river, we don't recommend it for beginners or children under 16. We want everyone to have a great time on the Betsie so please make sure your group is all informed on the difficulty of this river and is confident in their paddling abilities. At this time our River trips are limited to weekends only.

UPDATE: Please note that this review from a long time ago and is no longer valid. The campground was closed for a while and is now under new ownership. I have no idea what it is like now. I understand that the new owners have upgraded the power and 30 amp is now available.
The location was great. If you stay there, please rate and review it under the new ownership.
Stayed here for five nights. We used Betsie River Canoes & Campground for our base camp during our 53 mile Green Lake to Lake Michigan kayak trip on the Betsie River. The electric sites are only 20 amp but this was not a problem as

5 star experience all around. This was my second time in the last three years there. Ryan and Amy go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Extremely well kept from the grounds to the bathrooms and showers. Great access to the river with shuttle service available. Can’t wait to get back there.

The owners are fantastic hosts and continue to improve their campground every year! This was our second year staying at the group site. It was spacious enough for a few campers, a handful of tents, and space for the kids to run around. The disc golf course is a great way to spend the afternoon, and the playground kept the kids busy! We utilized the shuttle service to kayak the river, too. Also, the bathrooms and showers were clean and promptly attended to as needed.

This is the best campground you will ever stay at. Amy and Ryan have built something awesome from the ground up! They are the most incredibly kind people you will ever meet. They care about this place, always adding little things here and there to make it the best stay possible. Truly the most relaxing vacation of the year.
Also, do yourself a favor and rent some kayaks from them to take down the Betsie! They will shuttle you there and you land right back at the campground. It is hands down the most beautiful and fun stretch of river in the area.

Can't say enough good things about the good people at Betsie River Canoe and Campground! They keep the facilities clean, they are taking the correct COVID precautions, and the property is gorgeous. Ryan was a great host and we will be back next year! The Betsie River is a great trip. I'd rank it towards the lower end of intermediate paddler.

What an amazing campground. My family and I camped for three days and it is a well kept peaceful place to stay! Everything met or highly exceeded our expectations. The owner's were super friendly and welcoming. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. Words cannot express the beauty here! We will most definitely be back and will recommend to all our family and friends!
