LEC Environmental Consultants, Inc. (LEC) is a multidisciplinary ecology-based environmental consulting firm dedicated to providing an interface between the natural sciences and land use management. Successfully integrating natural sciences and land use managment requires an accurate interpretation and articulation of local, state, and federal regulations.
At LEC, we offer a broad range of services applicable to environmental permitting throughout Massachusetts and New England.

We are experienced in representing public, private, and non-profit sectors; offering a full range of services including ecological inventories; rare and endangered plant and animal surveys; coastal, inland, and marine habitat assessments; shoreline protection; coastal erosion studies and restoration design; coastal and inland wetland delineation and restoration; soil surveys, classification, mapping; remote data mapping; strategic planning; expert testimony; and preparing and reviewing environmental permit applications.
Wetland boundary determinations are often a critical component of land use planning. Delineating wetland boundaries requires a thorough understanding of the existing physical features including topography, vegetation, soils, and hydrologic characteristics. Such delineations also require a mastering of federal, state, and local delineation methodology and criteria.
LEC conducts a variety of surveys for state-protected wildlife to determine presence or absence on a particular project site or if present, the extent of actual habitat utilization. As part of the project review process, NHESP often requires such surveys to be performed in accordance with pre-established guidelines.
LEC has been retained by residential/commercial developers as well as engineering firms to obtain necessary permits associated with development. Permit applications often require detailed site evaluations and analyses for proposed projects in order to demonstrate regulatory compliance and obtain the necessary permits.
