Melody Scruggs better known as Mimi the clown has owned and operated The MelodyMaker Entertainment for 20 years. She has found much purpose and fulfillment in the silly business of magic, balloon twisting and her true passion, face painting.

Our "pop artists" can put a twist in your special event and fascinate everyone with their creative energy! Most all of our character artists make animals, hats, magic wands, swords, butterfly wings and more. We can also teach the art of balloon making at schools, churches, community centers, scouting or any other creative camps or classes you might like to have.
All our characters are exceptional in relating with children and you will find them full of enthusiasm and passion for making a difference in encouraging and building up kids. We feel it is truly a magical and important privilege to make these meaningful moments and lasting memories. All our female characters are not just pretty faces but also very talented face painters and balloonists.
Our experienced face painters provide fast, quality designs of any animal, character, image or logo you can name for any age! We are creative experts! We use only the highest-grade, FDA approved, hypoallergenic make up brands such as Mehron, Paradise, TAG, Global, Wolfe Brothers, and Kryolan, professional cosmetic grade glitter and non-latex body glue for gems, feathers with our best regard for cleanliness and hygiene.
Glitter Tattoos are fun and sparkly designs applied to the skin with stencils, non-latex body glue and cosmetic grade glitter. They are water proof and can last 1-3 days. Henna is a plant, used in both the Middle East and India for thousands of years to create beautiful, temporary skin art. Henna is mixed with an essential oil to make a paste and then applied to the surface of the skin to stain the outer layer with a beautiful orange/brown design that can last for 1-6 weeks depending on how often the skin is washed or exfoliated etc.

Mimi and company are a top notch shop of entertainment, family fun, and creative talent. Their team was punctual, friendly, helpful, and set up their own entertainment areas. The face painting was a big hit with the students and they were able to tailor the creations to our school mascot or other characters without any problems. The families loved The MelodyMaker Entertainment all around. You can't go wrong with this company.

The Melody Maker team has done it again! I cant tell you how much fun our daughter's party was. Miss Priss was amazing and just continues to exceed our expectations. To say Mimi the clown was a hit for our daughter's 4th birthday party is an understatement. Working with Melody was a breeze and every single child (ages 1-8) was thoroughly entertained. Her face painting is not your average work; she was able to create absolutely anything and the details were awesome! Prices are comparable to renting out any party facility and well worth the convenience of having a party at home. I highly recommend Melody for your next kid event!

I would like to tell you of my recent experience with The Melody Maker. We have used services for the past several years at our annual picnic. She worked with those kids so well, we didn't have to worry at all about them. She painted their faces and wow, how amazing they were. Animal faces, batman, spider man, they were excellent!!! she has also made balloon animals. Not only have we used Mimi the clown but have used the inflatable moon bounce and slide. I hired Mimi the clown to entertain at my daughter's 4th birthday party. Entertain she did. Mimi is amazing. She had all the kids giggling with excitement. Mimi is a true delight. Her face painting is amazing, her magic show is quirky and fun. The balloons she made were the perfect accessory to compliment the face painting. A couple of the parent's were so amazed by the face painting they had to get into the action themselves. I had parent's and kids tell me this was the best birthday party they'd ever been to and I have Mimi to thank for that! I HIGHLY recommend The Melody Maker and I can't wait

Absolutely the best entertainment provider in the Triangle! I have used The Melody Maker for all of my large church events for years as well as several of my boys' birthday parties and they have always been there on time and with everything I have requested.
