Bike Miami Valley
History: Bike Miami Valley started to emerge in the early 1960s and operated under a few different titles until becoming the organization you know of today. It all leads back to the Huffy Corporation. In 1961 Horace Huffman Jr., Chairman and CEO of the Huffy Bicycle Corporation, co-founded and sat as the first president of the Dayton Cycling Club.

Four years later, he formed and led the Greater Dayton Bikeway Committee, which later would be named the Miami Valley Regional Bicycle Council (MVRBC). Bike Miami Valley (BMV), this nonprofit organization, branched from MVRBC in the early 70s. Bike Miami Valley drafted one of the nation's first regional bikeway plans, which was adopted by Dayton's regional planning commission in 1973.
Services
This is what we're about - making the voices of everyday cyclists heard. There is tremendous power in numbers. Advocacy takes many forms - targeted campaigns and programs, contacting corporate developers, meeting elected officials. The common thread is looking out for local bicyclists - focused on your interests.
We offer in-classroom bike education and on-street small group riding programs for adults. Each program is different depending on what you want to learn. Bike Friendly Driver presentations are free and our on-street/on-bike How We Roll program (Program Fees $) are the two options of courses.

Our How We Roll group rides offer an on-road experiential learning opportunity in which participants learn bicycle law and practice positioning themselves on the road for maximum visibility and predictability.
Laura has served as the Executive Director of Bike Miami Valley since 2015. She coordinated the launch of Link: Dayton Bike Share which serves more than 3,500 unique users annually. She recently led an effort to evolve the station based bike share program into a smart bike program, while also adding electric bicycles to the Link Dayton fleet.
Your investment makes you a card-carrying member of Bike Miami Valley - and strengthens our voice to work for a more bike-friendly region. If we want to get the attention of our elected officials, we need to show them our numbers - by becoming a member, we can count you as part of the regional cycling force.
Bike Miami Valley Business Members believe in creating bike friendly communities and workplaces.
