Contrary to popular opinion, all barns are not created rectangular and red. Wisconsin alone has approximately 200 round or "round-type" barns. Folk wisdom attaches superstition to the shape, claiming that the barns were built round so the devil could not find a corner to hide in.

Actually, they were modern technology at its finest, being cheaper to build than conventional barns because they used less material and being more resistant to strong winds because gusts were directed around the structure rather than buffeting against the walls.Round barns are a fine example of architecture in harmony with the rural landscape.
For the 2019 tour season, Taliesin Preservation is excited to offer discounted tours for guests of the Round Barn. Anyone staying at the Round Barn will receive $5 off tickets to the House Tour, Hillside Studio & Theater Tour, Highlights tour, or Estate Tour. Each of these tours explores one or more buildings on the estate and delves into the rich history and philosophy behind life at Taliesin.
We can host events in a variety of settings, from the large banquet room, our private waterfall patio, or under the trees in the lawn. The venue has a full bar, rentable restaurant space, and a dance floor. Audio and video equipment, chair coverings and table dressings are also available. At Round Barn Banquet Hall, we provide the perfect setting for your wedding, corporate retreat, or private event.
There's enough solar energy hitting the Earth every hour to meet all of humanity's power needs for an entire year. To put the it into a different perspective, if we covered the Mojave Desert with solar arrays, it would generate more than twice as much electricity as the U.S. uses annually.

Depending on where you're looking at producing solar energy, it's probably already cheaper than coal, diesel, nuclear, and in most cases, natural gas, particularly in the Southern U.S.If the pattern of cost reductions is any indication, it won't be long before solar blows away every form of fossil fuel on a cost basis.

The room was excellent, everything was up to date, even the TV had high definition on every channel.
I had only two complaints, and for most people they would probably be very minor. One was I couldn't get closed captioning on the TV. My other complaint was that the channel lineup must have been off of satellite or something, as the channel numbers for programming was completely scramble from what I'm used to on Comcast. But that was it!

My family and I have stayed at this hotel a couple times, we were able to make use of pool this time 😁 every stay we've had a nice, clean room and quiet areas to enjoy, weather your sitting in lounge area, or outside on patios. Diner across the street is a must too. Would be nice if had little area in mornings with muffins, or doughnuts to go with the complementary coffee. Would definitely go back !

Called to get a room. The man asked for my social security number over the phone. I said no at first but he insisted that I had to to get a room. When I got there they didn't ask for an ID for the room. Okay but whatever. Also there was a sign that said the hotel... didn't have room cleaning services. That is worrysome.

The rooms air conditioner was broken and there were cobwebs all over the corners of the windows. We asked for a late checkout, so they said we could stay until 2pm instead of 11am. We had a do not disturb sign on the door and were woken up by pounding on the door by

Had 8 Friends book rooms here for a get together and they never told us there hasn't been a pool at this location since May. They keep advertising it to get you to come and when you get there they couldn't tell me what reason other than Covid it was closed. Which we have stayed at many other places during this time and all hotels still have their pools available. They only partially deducted the rate which was almost double all the other places in town.

They woke us up at 830 vacuuming the hallway when check out wasnt until 11 am. Also they're staff was yelling room numbers to

Recently updated rooms, this place exceeded expectations for a mom and pop style motel. Very comfy and clean. Restaurant no longer operating, but an easy and nice place to stay.

Dirty stained bedding ... yuck! Paper thin walls . Old , Dated and dingy. Limited options as we were in town for a sports event. We made the best of it but certainly would not recommend it. Sketchy.

Round Barn Lodge is a lovely mom and pop motel, and i found it to be very professional, and attractive. It featured a very inviting indoor pool with hot tub, and the bathroom had Jacuzzi jets as well. The room & bathroom were immaculate and welcoming, with a good mattress. The room also sported a large screen TV, microwave, and small refrigerator. There was even a small waterfall in the back area, which attracted songbirds.

The Round Barn Lodge doesn't offer a free breakfast, but the food at the attached restaurant looked like a good bet! I see other reviewers mention the lack of waitstaff

My wife and I and our friends stayed at the Round Barn Lodge this past weekend. We had stayed here just for a little weekend getaway many years ago and decided to go again this winter. We were pleasantly surprised at the new remodeling going on. We had a large king room that had just been freshly done. It was nice and comfortable with a large flat screen TV, microwave, and small refrigerator. Construction was still going on in some downstairs rooms even on Sunday when we left but they were very considerate of the guests from what I could see. The pool/hot tub area is nice and hasn't changed

Rooms are shabby, their sister motel across the street is nasty (bugs in beds). Got our reservation wrong (booked two rooms - only had one reserved when we arrived - no availability except across street) and instead of offering to comp the room across the street they said it was our word against theirs. Won't be staying there again....

Stayed in this hotel over the past weekend and also ate breakfast there.

We booked a large "family" room, which had a king bedroom and living area with pullout bed in the couch, as well as a staircase leading to a loft area that had a queen bed and another pullout. There was also a kitchenette. Plenty of room and we liked the fact that it all connected.

The room was spacious, though it was not well-cleaned. There were cheetohs left out on the counter that had not been cleaned up after the previous visitors. When we inquired about getting it cleaned, the staff person suggested that we

Great food but the place is mismanaged (too few people during Sunday brunch) and the hostess is not well suited for the hospitality industry. We waited far too long to be seated at one of the four empty tables in view (there may have been others) and then the hostess asked how much longer we'd stay before the wait staff had even taken away our plates.

This listing is inaccurate. The Round Barn isn't a bed and breakfast; it's a hotel with a restaurant adjacent. However, the restaurant is NOT owned by the hotel (at least, not as of this writing). I've stayed at the lodge twice, in Fall 2015 and Fall 2016 -- mostly due to lack of other options in Spring Green. In Fall 2015, our experience was OK but not great; we had to switch rooms due to a leak in our bathroom ceiling and we had to downgrade from a room with a king bed to a room with two double beds because they didn't have any other kings available. Despite that downgrade

I'm writing about the hotel. I did not try the restaurant. Our room was nasty! The A/C didn't work well, the window was cracked and the main areas and hallway had no cooling (and I would assume no heating in winter). It was 101 degrees outside, so you can imagine how hot the interior was. The room next to us contained people who were up all night arguing and yelling

The lock on the exterior door wasn't secure, and in the morning when we left to pack up the car, there was an individual sleeping in the hall on a sofa by the stairs. Not sure if he was a guest or not.

Definitely

I have never seen a room this horrible. Yellow stains on our bedspread. The smell was horrible. I think it was from a bug bomb. When we pulled the bedspread back, there were dead bugs in the sheets. The light in the ceiling was full of dead bugs also. When we told the staff, we weren't offered a new room. Rather than stay there, we chose to drive the 2 1/2 hours home at 2 a.m. We were tired when we got home at 4:30 a.m., but it was better than staying in that room and taking the risk of my family getting sick from the fumes. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

This is a review of the hotel; the restaurant was closed for the season when we stayed here.

We were passing through the area, and this place seemed to be the nicest in the immediate area. Our room was very spacious and nicely done, and the bed was quite comfy. The room had a high vaulted ceiling and actually had one of those "star projector" things that give you the illusion of a starlit night... if it wasn't so bright that the entire room had a greenish laser tinge. It was cute, but we turned it off after a couple of minutes so we could sleep.

We like this place, and should

After years of curiosity about this place, I finally had the opportunity to check it out before a venture to the House on the Rock last week. Sadly, I think we were towards the last of a surge of groups of people to arrive. The lone waitress was SLAMMED, I felt so terrible for her. Having worked in the service industry, I completely understood and my party kept our patience, waiting for her to get to us. When she finally did, we weren't too let down. Sure, the service was slow, but that was no fault of her own. When our food FINALLY arrived, it was pretty damn tasty, but it took forever (if

The food was tasty, but nothing to write home about.

The service... horrendous! Our server was surly, abrupt, and rude. She kept watching the clock and making comments about people coming in even though they close in a half hour. She complained to me about the lack of servers, even though there were only about 10 tables between the 2 waitresses.
