Services
DVRC Receives MDVA "Support Our Troops" (SOT) License Plate Grant (3 new handicap accessible golf carts) Disabled Veterans have increased liberation from their immobility challenges at DVRC. Due to limited mobility, disabled Veterans have often been unable to enjoy all the activities available at the camp.
In 1926, the Disabled Veterans Rest Camp (DVRC) started from a local farm that was donated to help disabled veterans recover from World War I. The original main farmhouse was converted to a dormitory-type house for these shell-shocked veterans. During WW II, shell-shocked was called battle fatigue; today it is called post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Rent our large pontoon (handicap accessible), or one of our smaller pontoons, canoes, or kayaks. We rent boat slips by the weekend, week, or month. Our patrons like to relax at the end of a long day of fishing on Big Marine Lake, recognized as one of the best lakes in the Upper Midwest. We have a Canteen, where campers can relax and share camaraderie.
All Lake Cabins #1, #9, #10, #11 and #12 are one bedrooms and sleeps up to 4 people. Each cabin is wheel chair accessible with a patio deck and a ramp. All cabins have a queen size bed, a sleeper sofa and 1 recliner in the living room, and a kitchen table with 4 chairs in dining area. All new amenities include gas stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, digital TV, split AC and heat pump, dishes, cookware, and flatware/utensils.
The campground has 156 RV sites. Full hook-ups (electric, water and sewer) are available on 27 of our RV sites. Partial hook-ups (electric and water) are available on 129 of our sites. There are another 15 sites for tents or RVs with 30amp electrical service only (dry camping). The campground also has two dump stations.

I’ve had clients utilize this campground while in between housing. An active campground on a beautiful lake that is always improving their facilities. Thank You for supporting our veterans!

Beautiful campus on Big Marine Lake. Modern facilities, playgrounds for children, and benches at well-tended memorials for veterans. Special thanks to Andy's team of Kraus Anderson Inc volunteers for building a new gazebo.

Beautiful place!!! Connected with a lake so you can fish or swim. Once in a while they have free entertainment like bands. You need to reserve your sight a year ahead of time. They also have seasonal that you sign on for 5 years at a time. People that have been there for quite a while love it.

This place is great. Tons of activities and the water was beautiful! So happy my friends invited me. And the lady bartender at the canteen was very adamant about us wearing our masks, so that is good.
