Sugar Loafin' Campground/Cabins
SUGAR LOAFIN' is surrounded by lake and stream trout fishing, rock hounding, pine scented forests, jeep trails, clean air, hiking, boating, mountain climbing, blue skies, cool breezes blowing off snowcapped mountain peaks, and the nation's highest golf course, which, by the way, is our neighbor. We are one mile from Turquoise Lake. Enjoy the scenic drive around the Lake, or the hiking trail that circles the east and north shores.
Services
Sugar Loafin' RV Campground was opened by Edith and Aldo Seppi the summer of 1967. It has always been a family owned and operated business. We have always tried to treat our guests with kindness and respect and have met many wonderful individuals and families over the years. The camping industry has changed a lot since 1967.
Sugar Loafin' RV/Campground and Cabins offers two luxurious park models capable of sleeping up to 6 people. Fully equipped kitchen including all cooking and eating utensils, dishes, pots and pans, dish towels, Solid Oak table w/ four chairs; full-sized oven with fan, refrigerator, dish washer, kitchen sink and cabinets.
Our hookup sites have spectacular views of Colorado's highest mountain peaks surrounding our valley. The drive-thru sites are over 100 feet in length and approximately 30 feet wide and can accommodate long rigs. Most sites accommodate triple slide outs. Back in sites are a minimum of 30 x 50 feet in size.
This quiet, back to nature setting is completely separate from the larger rigs. The sound of a breeze through the pines, gives you the feeling of solitude as you watch the embers from your campfire. For reservations we charge $30 flat rate deposit for campsites. If you have to cancel your stay with us and do so at least 48 hours in advance of your day of arrival we will refund all but $10 of your deposit for each canceled site.
Top of the Rockies Scenic Byway and Collegiate Peaks Scenic Byway are both easy day drives from Sugar Loafin' Campground. 103 miles of Gold Medal fishing waters on the Arkansas River starting approximately 7 miles South of Sugar Loafin'. 6 alpine lakes that are great for fishing, all under 15 minutes, that all can be accessed via paved roads.

Great little campground. We went with the whole family and reserved a cabin, two RV sites and a tent site. Showers and nice toilet facilities were the reason we picked this campground and they were so nice. Good hot showers were a luxury. Lots to do in Leadville. The campground is in a great location. If you're thinking you can walk to the reservoir (like we thought), just beware it's a mile uphill on a highway. Lots of easy 4wheeling nearby. **Side note, can't really launch paddleboards, kayaks or canoe from most access points on Turquoise lake, unless you're brave and very agile. It's really

The staff was super friendly! Check-in was easy. The first night we arrived there was a fun ice cream social. Lots of things to do in the area. We will definitely be back.

Very friendly staff. The park had narrow paved roads and the sites are dirt with little to no grass so when it rained it was a muddy mess. They have an overflow parking for extra vehicles or trailers. Had a game room with a pool table and a few arcades that didn’t work. The cell service wasn’t good and there isn’t no WiFi. Plenty of shade trees. They need to put gravel in the sites.

Staff was so helpful and accommodating. Also nice facilities and showers. They have a cute general store and an over all charming feel to the campground. Great location too!

Great Campground!!! Stayed here for the Leadville 100 run and couldn’t have been happier (about the campground, my race results are another story…) The run goes right by the campsite! Bathrooms were clean, store was stocked, and the sites were clean and wide! Will definitely be staying here next year when I make my second attempt and will be recommending it to others on the running chat sites!

Super accommodating people! We had intended to do some overnight backpacking after staying at a tent site for a few days (to acclimate to the altitude), but decided to do only day hikes instead. So, at the last minute, we asked them if they could squeeze us in for 3 additional nights. Some 15 minutes of head-scratching and a solution was found. So happy!
Bathroom facilities were very nice and clean. Close to town. Cell service was decent. Staff was awesome!

I wouldn’t be willing to stay here again.
Pros: I agree that the staff was very nice and its location is nice. There is also fantastic views.
Cons: We was supposed to be in a 50amp spot but they put us in a 30amp (tried calling # to correct it but no answer). The spots are extremely tight, un level and very, very muddy. No wifi and cell service was sketchy. Seems in need of some repair. It could easily be a 4 or 5 star park. It could use gravel at the sites with the sites widened. Site sizes are more for a small tear drop, class c or tents not class A and certainly not super C. Tree trimming

Great little campground in a fantastic location near Leadville. If you want to spend time at Turquoise Lake, this is your spot! The whole thing kind of reminded me of a sleepaway camp, including the bathrooms and showers :) which were very clean! Only issue we had was our campsite essentially becoming a mud pit when it rained, which basically made it impossible to get in and out of our teardrop in inclement weather. So just watch the weather and pick your site.

A well kept campground not too far from Leadville's mainstreet, Turquoise Lake, or Half-moon Creek. The public, camper only bathrooms are well maintained and clean. The front desk staff is really nice. The sites are well kept.

Do yourself a favor and don’t do it! This place has seen years of neglect. If I could give it zero stars, I would. The minute we pulled in we knew we had made a mistake. We booked 6 months ago for a one week stay. When we arrived, we were shown to a site where sewer was overflowing, and were told there had been a problem with sewer and they couldn’t get anyone to come out and fix it. Really? No one could call us? This place is in serious need of attention....like a bulldozer. The only good thing I can say is they gave us a refund on our stay. We had to drive another hour to find someplace else
