To know you is to know people who are kind, considerate and thoughtful. To know you is to be grateful for the special things you do. For everything you've done, for being the special people that you are, thank you so very much. While SweetBriar Assisted Living is located in Dunbar, we draw residents from all over the Kanawha Valley and further.
From the kitchen staff, to the nursing staff, to the administrative staff, you have all been kind and helpful and instrumental in helping our family, as well as our mother, transition to the SweetBriar way of life. As we continue to transition and find a new "normal, " it's strengthening to have you all around us.

Activity theory states successful aging occurs when older adults stay active and maintain social interactions.

One of the biggest goals at SweetBriar is to alleviate our residents of household tasks, which have become difficult for them and provide them with the carefree retirement we all hope to enjoy.
The main thing I wanted was my mother to be taken care of. Sweetbriar is a prayer answered. It was extremely important to find a place that was secure and Sweetbriar Secure Wing was a perfect fit for her. A part of our facility is focused on providing a safe, home-like environment for residents who are at risk for elopement or "wandering off" due to dementia and/or other memory related impairments.

My Grandmother was treated with the most respect there. I appreciate everything they did for her. When she was passing a staff member held one hand and I held the other. They were absolutely wonderful. I will never forget how amazing everyone there was. Best staff ever! You know the staff is awesome when they cry with you. I can not praise them enough. My grandmothers obituary will be in tomorrows Charleston Gazette and we had to mention how wonderful this place truely was.

My mom and dad were both in Sweetbriar for almost 2 years beginning in 2000. They were very well taken care of and assisted with all their needs. My dad was especially appreciative of the care since he required the most help at that time. The facility was always clean and the food was excellent. I highly recommend Sweetbriar for anyone who needs assistance but wants to still maintain some independence.

I was client at SweetBriar from November 15 to December 18, 2016. I was there because I had fallen at home and had broken my left humerus at the shoulder and had to wear a sling from 4 to 6 weeks. I had outstanding care while I was there. Al the aids were wonderful and responded to my bell ringing when I needed something. And all the staff from the director on down were very professional and caring. One of the best features at SweetBriar was the food - which was delicious. I never had a bad meal there the whole time.
