CIM was started in 1983 by John and Sue Gayman. Originally named Central Indiana Marketing, the Gaymans ran the company out of their home in Columbus, IN, providing technology to schools that were beginning to outfit their libraries and media centers. Through the 1990's the business grew and expanded into larger facilities, and two of the Gayman sons took on roles within the company.
