An operational geothermal heat pump system installed in our office. Heats domestic hot water by being connected to a Marathon water heater. In doing so, you receive FREE hot water the majority of the year! Our WaterFurnace geothermal heat pumps are the most efficient heating and cooling systems available.
A geothermal system consists of a heat exchanger (the 2,000 to 6,000 feet of piping buried or drilled into the ground), the ductwork (needed for most systems), and the indoor unit (just like a furnace or an air handler). We would typically recommend installing 2,000+ feet of pipe in the ground, a less expensive option.
An Air-to-Air system is your more common heating and cooling system. With the LENNOX brand of systems, Bill Lee Co can provide the highest efficiency systems within the market. What's a Heat Pump? A heat pump features an outdoor unit and an air handler inside. In the outdoor unit there's a device known as a reversing valve.
In our applications, we generally use sheet metal duct work, and we insulate the duct with R-8 duct insulation (Code only requires R-6). This does cost more than commonly used "flex duct", however this saves you, the homeowner, and provides better comfort throughout the home. If your air conditioner or heat pump fails in the middle of summer and you get hot, there are a number of things that may have caused that.
