The service at the 5 and 10 is wonderful. I have had many positive experiences both in person and with online orders. Everything was always received within a reasonable amount of time and I really enjoyed the personal well wishes that were sent with an order upon my daughter’s graduation in 2020. Recently something had been back ordered and as soon as it came in I was notified. It’s a great place with kind people!

A nice throwback to the era when a "5 and 10" store was the department store for small towns. For everyone younger than 50, "5 and 10" was occasionally said as "5 and dime". That's a reference to how item prices in these stores during the early 20th century mostly were 5 or 10 cents each. A 5 and10 survived by stocking what customers needed. This store has what "the neighborhood" wants - basic items, plus the best selection of U of Delaware clothing outside the campus bookstore. This place was a fixture when I was a Blue Hen from 1982-1986. Yeah, I'm that old.
And it's been decades since I had a chance to wander back to the campus. So much change! I don't recognize most of the campus, and Main Street is mostly dug up, so difficult to navigate.
I found a parking lot behind the store where you can pay using just your license plate and a credit card. Super easy.
Inside the store, there tons and tons of UD related clothing etc. You can get UD pom poms, even portable camping tables with the UD logo on it. I had a bit of sticker shock - a UD hoodie goes for

This is an old school five & dime department store on the main drag in Newark, DE. It is a bit worn around the edges with the original fixtures and shelves from their heyday around 1950. It survives primarily by selling University of Delaware collectables and logo emblazoned sweats and Tees at a small discount compared to the Barnes & Noble franchised University bookstores.
At least, that's why I was there.
My son, the UDel freshman, took me there after our Mexi lunch so I could purchase a hoodie and sweatpants from their large selection. It took a while to check out the assortment

Need a Delaware souvenir? This is the place to find it. Magnets, keychains, shot glasses, notebooks, pencils, posters, frames. Etc.
They also carry a lot of inexpensive school supplies, hardware, kitchen/bath needs, novelties, and crafting materials.

One of the nicest campus stores I have been to. I've been to college campuses all over the country and this was one of the nicest campus merchandise stores I have seen. It is everything Delaware. You can get almost any kind of clothing or knick knacks. The selection is humongous. I was visiting from Oregon and stopped in to get some Delaware gear for the football game on Saturday. The staff was very friendly and the prices were very fair.

I grew up in Newark, and this place has been on main street for a LOOOONG time. lol. Going into the store, I noticed a lot of U of D items, and that made me smile. The cashier said hello, and I was also greeted by another staff member walking around the store. This store has a bit of everything. What they have done is make this store a one stop shop for the college students. Everything from snacks to sweats and ball caps. Terrible customer service. Came back for the first time since graduating and feel like reminiscing about old times... Walked along mainstreet and wandered into the shop. Not only was I ignored by one sales person.... I was spoken too rudely by another. Times change I guess... So not worth your time.
