Named in the spirit of owner Debbie Grossman's grandparents, Fresser is a Yiddish word for big eater or one who eats copiously and without restraint. Debbie's grandparents spoke Yiddish when they didn't want the kids to understand what they were saying. Click this text to start editing. Services
When Debbie Grossman opened Fressers Eatery in 1999, she wanted a place where anybody and everybody could eat; meat eaters, vegetarians, low sodium, gluten free, vegan. She made sure her crew knew the importance of respecting special diets and that her customers were comfortable eating at her restaurants.

This was a special little find off the beaten path in the Highlands North Carolina. I believe it's at the corner of Oak and Pine and has a wonderful little courtyard and a more casual dining experience other than the restaurants on the main street. They were friendly, the food was excellent and a perfect outdoor café.

I'd like to say it was the best food in Highlands and the previous reviews were accurate. However, our experience wasn't the best. We had a runner bring our food to us, which we were so thankful for. After repeating our order 6 times to 2 different people, it was still wrong though. My hot dog bun was so toasted it broke in half and the fries were hard / super toasted. The other girl got a chicken sandwich, the sandwich was hard as a rock, and the bread tasted like it had been dipped in balsamic vinaigrette. The owner is always so sweet, but whoever answered the phone taking the orders couldn't

I was on the fence about giving Fresser's 4 stars as the food is quite good. However, considering the prices, service and location situation, I just can't do it. My wife and I had a simple lunch - me, a burger, her a single small grocery store hot dog (described as JUMBO! on the menu..) with a couple cups of soup, a tiny plastic cup of cole slaw and 2 drinks and ended up with a tab of over $40! This is basically a small food stand with an ordering counter, a few outdoor tables and "service" that seemed to be provided that day by a single young child. We got about half our order

It's true, the food is good here, but it is way overpriced for what it is.
I got a "loaded" hot dog which was described as "jumbo" sized and covered with chili, cheese and slaw. It was actually just ordinary sized, not jumbo by any stretch, but it was freshly grilled and covered with ample condiments. I liked how they put the cheese directly on the dog to melt it well, and added a couple slivers of onion. So it was tasty, but the problem: this dog cost $8! The "naked dog" option was $6. Fairer prices would be more like $3 or maybe $4, tops, for naked, and

Delicious. This place is absolutely delicious. With a group of 10, there was something for everyone. Gourmet Grilled Cheese was ordered by 3 or 4 and scarfed down quickly. With three kinds of cheese it has great flavor and was melted perfectly. I had the curry chicken salad sandwich, chef's choice prep for the day, and was not disappointed... It even had raisins, which is my personal sign of a perfect recipe. The Caesar salad is a steal for the price, a large plate that grandma was afraid she wouldn't be able to finish... Of course she did. They even made great accommodations for the
