Interested in volunteering? BARC is always looking for people like yourself to help out at zero waste events. Volunteering your time with us means supporting the community and environment, while having a fun time doing it. We look forward to meeting you at our next volunteer opportunity! We need some awesome volunteers to help us on our de/re construction projects.
BARC pricing is structured to cover our costs for material handling and processing along with supporting costs for furthering our mission. Please inquire about other ways YOU can help support BARC with additional donations and support. BARC is happy to help with all of your recycling needs.

Bay Area Recycling for Charities recycles anything with a plug. In partnership with eRecycle TC, we properly recycle, reuse or repurpose your electronics while protecting the environment. Each year millions of pounds of eWaste is dumped into the landfill. These items take hundreds of years to break down and leak harmful toxins into our air, water and soil.
BARC is the place to turn to when you need to recycle an old refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier or air conditioner. The freon in these household appliances must be evacuated by a certified facility with special equipment and expertise. The careful disposal of freon has been regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency as part of the Clean Air Act since 1992.

I believe they are charging way too much for appliance recycling pickup. I was going to be charged $70 to have a wall ac unit picked up. These expenses charges make it extremely difficult for low income individuals to recycling anything.
I have also found 2 other recycling business that will pick it up for free. One even offered me $50 for recycling my old appliance.I wish this company the best of luck.

I could not give a higher recommendation for using the services of BARC for your private events and weddings. I am a wedding planner based in Traverse City, and work with my couples who are interested in having a low/zero waste wedding and are conscious about recycling, composting, and returnables. BARC makes this process smooth and efficient, providing on-site waste stations and setup for your event at an extremely reasonable cost and offers delivery and pickup service as well.
