Fairbanks Irrigation, Inc., was established in 1943 by Lyle and Mary Fairbanks, of Wood River. The firm began in the Wood River area, drilling wells for local farmers. Mr. Fairbanks retired in 1973 and his son, Bill Fairbanks, entered the business. Bill hired Marvin Kubert in 1979 to partner and manage the business.
Many wells were drilled in the 1960s and 70s according to Marvin, but more and more emphasis is now placed on repair and maintenance. In July of 2000, Rick Kirschner and Mike Smith purchased Fairbanks Irrigation. Marvin retired in 2008. Rick and Mike continue to operate the business in the same manner that Lyle, Bill and Marvin operated it, with the motto "Service is our specialty."

Services
During the season, let us come out and check your pump or well for problems. Our service trucks can repair most problems and keep you running through the peak of the irrigation season. If you notice you are short on water and something doesn't seem right, we can flow and pressure check your pump. This can determine if you have a pump problem.
After video inspection of your well casing, there are cost effective options for cleaning the well casing. If the buildup is not severe, we can use a descaling acid that dissolves iron bacteria and manganese. In addition to acidizing the well casing, we can also brush the casing that is in a more severe condition.
Fairbanks Irrigation has the capability of drilling large diameter wells for agricultural purposes. We use reverse circulation drilling to bore holes 29 inches in diameter to install PVC casing. After the 16-inch casing is installed, we gravel pack and seal off confining layers of water bearing formations.
Fairbanks Irrigation has the capability of drilling small diameter wells by using a direct mud rotary drilling method. These wells are drilled with a diameter ranging from 9 inches to 14 inches and are cased with PVC casing. The casing size can range from 2 inches up to 8-inch cased wells. We develop these wells by air jetting or test pumping the newly drilled well.
Geothermal loop fields are a great way to efficiently heat and cool your residential and commercial properties. Fairbanks Irrigation has the capabilities of drilling vertical loop fields for any application. Residential loop fields range from four to ten loops that consist of a high-grade glycol fluid that circulates through the loop pipe.

I cannot comment on their irrigation services, but two Fairbanks employees helped us jump our vehicle at a gas station in Wood River today and were so very kind and helpful. We are driving from Michigan home to Denver, and are in the last stretch of our trip. They saved us from delaying our progress by potentially hours waiting for AAA. Huge thanks to these helpful folks!!!
