We enthusiastically welcome Stacy J. Story, MD into the Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia, PA family. A native South Carolinian, Stacy grew up in Lancaster, SC, the daughter of two ophthalmologists.
A very common problem, cataracts are essentially the clouding of the eye's lens. When cataracts develop, they blur vision. However, cataracts can be effectively treated with cataract surgery, the most frequently performed surgical procedure in the United States. Cataract surgery, which involves the removal of the cloudy lens and the implantation of a plastic artificial lens, is successful in over 98 percent of cases.
It affects 15-20% of the adult population in the U.S. Although usually mild in severity, even minimal dry eye disease can significantly affect patient comfort and ocular health. Despite greater understanding of tear film production, the underlying cause of dry eyes is often unknown. However, various therapeutic modalities are available to give the patient some relief from chronic ocular problems.
Most people with diabetic retinopathy have no symptoms until the disease is very advanced. By then, it is usually too late to do anything about the vision loss. That's why it is important to get screened for the condition early. That way, doctors can take steps to protect your eyes before your vision is damaged.

My first visit and I’m only dirty I hadn’t consulted Dr. Volpe sooner. The office is beautiful and comfortable and easy access. Her staff is so happy and friendly. I immediately felt at ease and welcome. Dr. Volpe was prompt, explained everything (and twice when I didn’t understand certain things!), and explained future expectations and plan. I left feeling so confident in my choice and care. Highly recommend this doctor and staff.

I met with Dr. Stacey Story and she was amazing! Such a sweet heart. She took the time to get to know me, my history, talk to me about my concerns, and she was open and honest about how she felt professionally we should move forward. The selection from my insurance approved frames were soooo cute! I was expecting boring options but I chose some thing outside my norm and they were back in a week! I am so happy to have chosen this practice and to be blessed with Dr. Story's knowledge and professionalism.
