Custom Brick and Stone did a great job of repairing a stone wall with our 110 year old house. Very professional, detail orientated, thorough, and highly skilled in their trade. They knocked a difficult job out of the park for us. From start to finish, it is easy to see that James and John take a great amount of pride in their work.

I live in Keokuk, IA and own a home with an old stone foundation (1868) that was in need of some serious attention. The family owned and operated crew at Custom Brick & Stone are both extremely knowledgeable and professional in their trade. These guys pay specific attention to every detail, even making sure my gate was closed every time they went in and out so my dog wouldn't get out. They went above and beyond to ensure that I was informed throughout the project and after completion, pleased with the outcome. I highly recommend these guys for any masonry projects that you may need!

Claim to be experts in historic masonry repairs, but I ended up with a 3' x 3' grey patch on a white mortared 170 year old building. I'd already spent over 100 hours chipping grey Portland a previous owner had smeared all over the walls, and had insisted on white mortar when we spoke about the job. When questioned about the gray mortar being used the day the patch was made, I was assured it would dry white. You can't use a modern mix on a 170 year old building with soft brick, and slaked lime mortar! The faces of those old bricks will spall! This will probably have to be redone in a few years,

We highly recommend James West and his fine company. They produced the highest level of brick restoration and repair on our house. We are very pleased with the effort they made on the sadly neglected home we bought recently. Their labor and technique expressed a devotion to true restoration and their professionalism and friendliness were greatly appreciated. If we'd asked the average masonry contractor to restore jack arches in a radius wall, he'd still be scratching his head. John West was able to preserve the original bricks and rebuild the deteriorated structure. It is a pleasure to look at
