Checked your FB page for your hours NYE and it said opening at 6:30 am to 8 pm. So were surprised when we got there to see you're closed. Noticed "hours might change" Would think if you changed your minds about being open, you would have just said Closed like Sunday and Monday.
Disappointed

The food was OK, fairly generic American fare with some flair. The smell of all the foods indoors was overwhelming. Our kids did not enjoy their meals at all, so I don't recommend taking young kids who are picky eaters.

Great food and warm atmosphere. I ordered the turkey sandwich and a side of fruit. It was beautifully presented, and was full of flavor. Happy that I ordered the fruit. And later I ordered one of the best fruit smoothies on the planet.

Maid- rites were excellent as were the beans on the side! The ice cream cones were good but the fruit loops flavored one had no flavor. The Zoreo flavor was over the top! Always enjoy our time at Kava. Next time will have the banana cake, which looked totally phenomenal....

All I can say is WOW! I had never heard of this absolute gem of a place. A friend told me about it and took me here. Simply amazing food. Everything was so unbelievably fresh. They have desserts including ice cream. They also have coffee drinks! I had a chai tea smoothie that was delicious! Try their fresh fruit side, it's so good. I am eager to come back here as soon as I can and to tell everyone I know about this place. I also love the decor!

Nice coffee and sandwich shop in Swisher. Would have given 5 stars but staff not wearing masks and customers not required either. Good food with lots of sandwich and salad choices. Big coffee and drink menu including alcohol. Will be going back!

The BEST cinnamon rolls in the country. I lived in the Bay Area for a while and would wake up at the crack of dawn to wait in a 40 person line at Devils Teeth Bakery for a cinnamon roll, Kava House's are better (and there's no line!).

The people are friendly. The place is super cozy and inviting. And the food and coffee is top-notch. I'm all for supporting this local business.

Such a tasty place to come and eat! I’m especially fond of their pasta salad. As quoted by the consumer of the sandwich: “consuming at this location made stomach big happy.”

On the recommendation we tried the Kava House while on a Roadtrip. It was amazing!

I absolutely love the warm, homey environment. It is very welcoming and unpretentious. The mismatched chairs, tables, light fixtures, etc make it feel like Grandma's kitchen.

I enjoyed thee brisket sandwich with pasta salad. My partner in crime had aa very filling bowl of piizza soup. We both left wishing we had saved room for the gorgeous desserts... but maybe needy time.

This place is beyond amazing. I love the community here. The food breakfast casseroles, Pastries, and coffee are amazing. If you are driving to either Cedar Rapids or Coralville and thinking about finding a spot. Do yourself a favor and stop here. Its the same distance to drive into.

This is a gem of a place. A true oasis. From the antique wooden dining room tables and chairs to the overall interior of the building (former general store). I had a mixed green salad with chicken on it. It was delicious. The greens weren't soggy and chicken was tender and thoughtfully sliced. The black bottom cake portion was very generous. The cake was delicious, the cream cheese filling was just enough, and the frosting was a fantastic overall fudgy taste.

Kava House offers a welcome interruption from the daily grind. Rustic but nicely appointed interior combined with excellent service and home made meals and/or treats invite to stay and enjoy your stay. Great place to meet with friends or clients to catch up. It can get very busy in the AM and after work hours but offers a more quiet setting midday. You choose. You can't go wrong here. And yes, it's worth the drive and pay slightly more than other options in Cedar Rapids or Iowa City.

A nice little boutique coffee shop hidden in a small town. The ambiance is eclectic with old dining room tables and mismatched chairs. There's a nice little comfy seating area with couches to enjoy a latte or coffee. They home make everything and it's all delicious. The menu is small but nicely varied and there's a Saturday evening dinner special that's usually very good. They have a small specialty gift item section th a t's worth browsing through with some unique finds. The staff is small town friendly and super helpful. A great place for a relaxing outing.

Absolutely amazing. I've liked everything on the menu. Delicious sandwiches, drinks and treats. The only thing they lack in is breakfast. So I usually stick to the great coffee and treats in the morning. The special Saturday meals are very filling and always great tasting.

I definitely recommend.

The cafe is huge, spanning the full first floor of a beautiful old four-square building. There's ample outdoor seating on the front deck and in the lawn next to the building, but the indoor seating is the cutest with mis-matched but perfectly matching dinning room tables.

I ordered lunch and a couple drinks while soaking up the wifi. The Jessie's Veggie was very good - spinach-artichoke spread, onions, crisp vegetables, and fresh grilled bread were perfect. With how good it was, I was surprised that it was the only vegetarian option outside of a pb&j.

I ordered a tea to start

If this house were a human it'd probably be slightly chunky like a sweet old grandma and I'd want to pinch it's cheeks and listen to its stories. Kava House is as cute and cozy as it gets - better yet, it's located in the middle of nowhere which adds to the charm.

What to expect?
An older building with tall ceilings, tons of wooden dining room tables and a large patio with covered tables. The menu? Multiple coffee drink options, baked goods, salads, soups and sandwiches. I thoroughly enjoyed my hot beef sandwich and salad combo ($9) along with a cup of coffee. The tea selection

Over the past five and a half years, we've made it a point to hit as many restaurants in the area as possible. We have a lot of friends who do the same and as such, it came as a tremendous surprise the we never heard about this place which now officially owns the title of our favorite breakfast place in the area.

Located about a mile off 380 in the town of Swisher, Kava house was absolutely off the charts in terms of our experience. It provided a rarely seen, and perfectly executed mix of small town charm, vibes of an urban coffeehouse and crazy good food and pastry options. My wife and both
