If you take anything from this review: when I got home my girl asked me “did a white man cut you?”
They’re friendly and have a great vibe here but I’m sorry if you have straight hair, don’t slide here!! The old head who cut me had 2 different lengths for my hairline and top of my head. Like what type time 😂 I gotta buzz my whole head and restart the growth process now. My line up by my side burns was uneven. The hairline grew back in 1 day, which means the razors weren’t sharp enough to give a good hairline.
The fade was about average, but the guidelines were very dark and didn’t

I was waiting in line outside the vape shop next door and I noticed 2 girls standing in front of this barber shop when I saw the owner of the barber shop come running out and cuss the girls out. He started threatening the girls with being jumped. Meanwhile, all the girls seemed to be doing was standing harmlessly on his basement steps. The girls didn’t do anything about it, but it was really off-putting considering they looked like young college students.. I wouldn’t give this owner my money. Embarrassing for him considering there were dozens of people around.

My son found this Barber Shop on Google and wanted to get hair. Once we walked in everyone greeted us with a big hello the place is immaculate very spacious with many Barber chairs and my son got to get in right away without having to wait. There are many comfortable clean nice black leather chairs that u can sit and relax while waiting. My son was very happy with his hair cut and with the gentleman who cut his hair. I'm sorry! By far the second best haircut I have received in the last 6 years. Talib is a cratsman and fantastic at his career. I have lived in Philly for 1 1/2 years and have been to three other barbers that couldnt do what this shop did. My taper fade is dope and i walked out feeling like a brand new woman. Thank you

I Just started as a Freshman at Temple and this is one of the closest shops to campus. tried to call before I went but nobody picked up i saw it was open and walked over. Got in right away as a walk in and I got Mal. He did a great job with my hair and I will be going back again. Since I just started at Temple this is one of my first cuts by a barber that wasn't one I've been going to my whole life. Overall it was a great experience, good pricing and quick!

One of the hair braiders there, Tianna Reese is not professional what so ever. I showed her a picture of what I want and she said she could do it. Thinking she was a professional I believed her. When she was done I had about 30 braids on my head, mind you I wanted box braids and she had the nerve to charge me $80 and when I asked for more braids she wanted to charge me another $80. She is very unprofessional and I would not recommend her AT ALL! I am very disappointed with the amounf of money I spent because it was not worth it!!

I was at Temple for a summer program and needed a cut, so I came by 1617 after seeing the good reviews. Sheed hooked me up with one of the best haircuts of my life. It's a black barbershop but they can definitely cut white peoples hair... a couple other guys from my program also went and we were all more than happy with their work. Chill atmosphere, good conversation, and the barbers know what they're doing. Plus I was a walk-in on a busy afternoon and they took me within a half hour. Highly recommend.
