She has been working as a registered dietitian/licensed nutritionist in the state of Florida for 10 years. Additionally, she is a certified personal trainer with the National Council on Strength and Fitness.
Obesity is the excess accumulation of body fat. It results from high-calorie intake and poses a greater risk of developing many life-threatening diseases. Weight loss surgery is usually considered as the best treatment option for patients who have failed to respond to non-surgical weight loss procedures like diet, medication and exercises.
In Adjustable Gastric Banding surgery a hollow band made of special material is placed around the stomach near its upper end, creating a small pouch (about 7 ounces) with a narrow passage leading into the larger remainder of the stomach. The band is attached by tubing to an access port placed under the abdominal wall where it is inflated with a saline solution with a hypodermic needle.

PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS BEWARE!!!
I had been seeing Dr. Sharma since August, always met by a "new student" waiting over an hour sometimes to meet with Ashley, the PA for the office.
Fast forward to the LAST appointment when I was told by Ashley, Dr. Sharma was no longer doing surgery at a reputable hospital, rather at a surgery center in Orange Park and my insurance would no longer cover the procedure as the facility does not meet my insurance company standards?
I sought the continued support of another physician after getting my medical records and learned after reading my office notes I was simply

My surgery with Dr.Sharma was absolutely wonderful. I’m currently 6months Post-Op Gastric Sleeve and I’m down 71 Ibs forever and over 100 Ibs since I’ve started my program with New Life. This was an amazing an experience. Dr. Sharma and staff was awesome. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. My surgery was performed at Orange Park Medical; which the care they provided mirrored the care from New Life Surgical. My recovery is going well. Dr. Sharma implemented strategies prior to surgery to reduce the amount of pain and nausea I would experience. I am post-op day 4 and I have had no nausea and minimal pain; Tylenol takes care of the pain I may experience. If you are considering WLS, please consider New Life Surgical Center first.

Dr Sharma saved my life! I had the lap band surgery in 2007 (done by a different surgeon), when Dr Sharma did my Gastric Sleeve in July 2021 he found that my lap band had eroded into my stomach. He found that parts of my stomach had turned black and he was surprised that I had not had any major issues. If the band would have stayed in much longer I would have had serious life threatening issues. Since my gastric sleeve I have had more energy and am losing weight effortlessly! Tomorrow Dr Sharma will do my hernia repair. The hernia is from my c section I had in 2013. No other surgeon would consider

Let me start off by saying that Dr. Sharma and his staff are top notch proffesional and caring people! I waited TWO months to make a post to see how affective the Gastric Sleeve was. I am so greatful I got it done. I had the Lap Band put in approx. 12 years ago and over time it failed and was not feeling comfortable and the weight came back. I decided to seek another surgeon and I did my research and Dr. Sunil SHARMA kept coming up as being the best in town. Choosing surgery is not an easy decision but Dr. Sharma and the entire team took a lot of stress off from the very first appointment. They set expectations on the first day while educating me on not only the benefits of surgery but also the life changes required to be successful.
The program he designed is very easy to follow and flexible enough to fit most. The staff is very knowledgeable of not only the surgery but the inner workings of insurance as well and we’re great resources throughout the program as well.
