Coastal Animal Hospital is proud to serve the Kitty Hawk NC area for everything pet related. Our veterinary hospital is overseen by Dr. Stephen Samson, who is a licensed, experienced Kitty Hawk veterinarian. Most of all, though, Dr. Samson treats all his patients as his own and his skill and compassion are reknown throughout the Outer Banks.
Many dog owners admire the unique looks and personalities of purebreds, but also worry about the fate of millions of pets euthanized each year. What many people don't realize is that there are specific breed rescue organizations for almost every breed of dog, placing dogs in need to new homes. 1. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill. Coastal Animal Hospital works closely with several non profit organizations who provide financial aid for those experiencing financial difficulties. All cards must be signed by the owner of the card.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best.

We always wondered what we would do as visitors to Hatteras Island if one of our pups had an emergency. We found out this visit when our girl had an issue that required immediate care. We were thrilled to find… CAH of HI in Buxton and even more thrilled that they got our girl in right away. Dr Hicks and her staff were wonderful. They got our girl fixed up and on the road to wellness. What a great asset to the local community and visitors too. Thank you.

My dog had his yearly shots today, he had gotten his three year rabies vaccine in 2020. They did not inform me that they would be preforming another one year rabies vaccine, I was aware that he would be getting a blood collection and test, as well as his other yearly vaccine. I’m very worried about the side effects of over vaccination, since he wasn’t due to get his rabies vaccine for another two years. This all could have been avoided with communication, not to mention he wears his rabies tag on his collar which could have easily been checked before administering. I still paid $20.94 for it

We were on vacation and needed vaccines for our two month old puppy. We called the Buxton office and got an appointment right on schedule. Dr. Hicks and her team were great, took care of everything and answered all our questions. If we ever need a vet on Hatteras Island we will definitely come back!

My Yorkie, Josie, had a swollen eye. Kim and Jennifer were so kind and worked my baby in that day. Dr. Samson was very professional and sensitive to Josie’s needs. This staff was working diligently even though they were under staffed.
I appreciate Coastal Annimal and highly recommend to others.

We love Coastal Animal Hospital. Since our last visit the staff has totally changed. Although, I loved the old staff, the new staff is very knowledgeable, professional & loving & caring towards our Westie. I see where some reviews mentioned high prices but when it comes to excellent care you may have to pay more.but I want the best for our baby & that’s what she gets at Coastal!!!

We are frequent visitors to the Frisco area (about 6 times a year) and always bring our pup Murray with us! When a really gross open sore appeared on his neck we knew we should get him checked out as soon as possible. Coastal Animal Hospital was able to get us in that same day and we’re absolutely amazing. As Murray was a little nervous and decided to lay on the ground, Dr. Hicks didn’t hesitate and got right on the ground with him. She diagnosed the problem and provided us with medications very quickly. It is so nice to know there is a quality vet on the island if something were to happen

Due to the absence of Dr. Christina Hicks, I saw Dr. Stephen Samson in Buxton, NC for my new puppy's first Wellness Exam. Dr. Samson is a compassionate professional who truly cares about his furry patients. He took time to tell me about feeding, training and nurturing my new Shih Tzu, and seemed delighted to meet her. The office is "sparkle-clean" and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating. Coastal Animal Hospital will be my dog's health care provider for the rest of her life, and I recommend this wonderful practice without reservation.

Our 5 year old English Pointer developed a hacking cough which she has had in the past. Coastal took us right away and was extremely efficient with new patient paperwork and had us in an exam room in minutes. Dr Samson came in promptly and assessed Lucy's condition and made the same recommendations our regular vet made. We were in and out in 45 minutes with medications. Pricing for meds and services were comparable to our vet in Cartersville Ga. staff was very friendly and treated our girl and her momma and dad very professionally and with southern charm and hospitality.

We came to Kitty Hawk on vacation and our Whippet started showing signs of sand impaction from playing fetch on the beach. The team at CAH took amazing care of him for 24 hours while he recovered and reassured us along the way. God forbid we need emergency vet help on vacation again, but if we do we will 100% be coming here.

We were on vacation in Nags Head when our 18 year old dog became ill. Everyone at Coastal Animal Hospital was very courteous and accommodating. They worked us in for an appointment and Dr. Sara Beth Belton gave our Blonde excellent care and recommended helpful remedies. She is feeling much better today. THANK YOU Coastal Animal Hospital!
