Hillsboro Law Group PC is the latest iteration of a general practice law firm first established in Hillsboro in 1973 and incorporated in 1989. President Grant Burton and Vice President David McCaffery joined the law firm as shareholders in 2006, and have helped lead the law firm to unpredecented growth and profitabilty.
There are many different reasons why people file for consumer bankruptcy but the common thread is financial stress - it may be caused by credit card debt, divorce, loss of employment or medical bills, or health issues. Most individuals considering filing for bankruptcy pursue relief under either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and each of those are explained below.

Grant Burton recently helped us with our estate plan. We appreciated the way in which Grant communicates. He's very concise, uses good illustrations, he's very responsive, and professional. We met with Peter and Luz to work on getting the change of status, SSN, and green cards. He was rather knowledgeable about the process and helped us with filing the paperwork. They were very good about communicating with us about updates from USCIS as things proceeded along. We couldn't have done this without them. As far as cost I used a legal benefit I have through my employer so we only had to pay for filing and follow up. We had a special situation with our older daughter and they helped us expedite documents and clear the way for her. We are overall very happy with their service.

Mr Zwaanstra did a good job working with me on my divorce and with my insurance. I did not have much time to do this and my insurance was going to run out soon but he was able to work with that and get everything done quickly and effectively without problems. Highly recommended.

Late last year I went for a consultation and met with Peter Tovey. I spent $150 for FIFTEEN MINUTES of Peter Tovey's time. He proceeded to tell me that my case was basically hopeless, that if I decide to pursue it he cannot help me and will have to refer me to someone else and pay over $10,000 in legal fees alone for a "maybe."
I asked him multiple questions to see if there was some sort of petitions and he said that he did not know and would get back to me. Two weeks passed and I did not hear a thing. I called the office and found out he had been on vacation for that time, I also

If I could give them less than zero I would, i was having an attorney from this office, I was having a case with the DHS, and the attorney never defended on me in the court, she never turn back my calls or even told me about the hearing or discuss the case with me after the hearings , the case worker called me to tell me about it, and there are many things to tell, but it will only waste my time. This the worst experience I could have with an attorney.

I mainly worked with Theresa Furness and Peter Tovey and I recommend them both very highly. They're courteous and competent and kept me informed every step of the way. I found James Zwaanstra and Hillsboro Law Group PC through Yelp! and called to make an appointment for my grandmother, who had a person attempting to take advantage of her, financially. The front office understood that her situation was time sensitive, so scheduled us very quickly. During our first meeting with James I could tell that he genuinely cared and offered great advice. My grandmother, who was shy and embarrassed about her situation, later mentioned that she felt at ease due to the compassion and regular communication from James and staff. Most importantly, we never felt that payment

I called this local firm. They wanted me to come in for $100 consult but could not first tell me if they could represent my entire family as one (same case) or just me. I told her I felt it reasonable to know whether they could meet my needs before I waste precious time and money coming in. The woman told me she would check first thing and call me back. I did not receive a call back. When I called again to check, the woman was very short with me and told me the attorney simply said no he could not represent all of us - just me. I asked if I could briefly chat with him to clarify the situation
