The year was 1889 - Benjamin Harrison was President of the United States, the Eiffel Tower was opened in Paris, the Wall Street Journal was first published, and The Pemberton Medicine Company (later the Coca-Cola Company), was incorporated in Atlanta, Georgia. In Scott County, Indiana, the Scottsburg Building and Loan Association was incorporated and its first home mortgage was extended.
Traditional checking account with or without checks. You get a competitive monthly interest rate, full featured checking, and ways to avoid monthly fees. On-Line Banking available, featuring Checkfree (Bill Pay) and Popmoney. Minimum opening deposit amount varies. If you use Direct Deposit, monthly fees will be waived.
You pick the term. You earn a fixed rate of interest, compounded quarterly, based on the amount you deposit and the term you have selected. You always know that your money is earning and how much the investment is worth. No risk. You may choose to receive your interest by check, monthly or quarterly.
Pay no income tax on the contributions or the earnings until you withdraw funds. Individuals who qualify may contribute up to the IRS Limits or 100% of earned income, whichever is less. Individuals age 50 or older will benefit from even higher limits, allowing those closest to retirement to save even more.
