Services
Rehab Specialists opened in 2013 right here in Portage, Michigan. John and Andy, the owners, have dedicated their careers to helping people get back to normal naturally- that is without pain medications, surgery or injections. Rehab Specialists is a private PT owned clinic that specializes in one-on-one Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.
Telehealth uses electronic communication to remotely provide health care information and services. We offer this to our patients. There is a combination of clinical, technical, and financial considerations that determine if telehealth is right for you. Rehab Specialists also offer free virtual consults.
Rehab Specialists has two entrances. Our main entrance is off of Milham Avenue and shares a drive with the Hickner Eye Center. The other entrance is off of Oakland Drive and is the entrance for Berkshire Hathaway- pull into the drive and go straight back through the parking lot until the drive curves to the right and take the curve into our parking lot.
Physical Therapy is a great first-line treatment for most muscle and joint problems. Clinically proven to reduce pain and dysfunction, physical therapy also saves you time and money too. Although other kinds of practitioners will offer some of these treatments as "physical therapy, " it's important for you to know that physical therapy can only be provided by qualified and licensed physical therapists.
Outpatient Occupational Therapy at Rehab Specialists can be beneficial to people of all ages from all walks of life. Occupational therapists work with people who strive to participate as active members of society but are limited by physical, developmental, cognitive, or emotional difficulties. Occupational Therapists at Rehab Specialists help people to learn skills for restoring independence with activities of daily living and return to work.

Facilities were well kept. Office staff was very pleasant and helpful. Andy and Brenton complemented each other well in my care. Both were professional, informative, friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. There were many tools at their disposal which they used effectively for my care. They were very open to my questions and helped me understand what would be needed to progress my improvement at home after therapy. I am extremely pleased and will return here if I need further therapy.

I am so very pleased with the therapy I received at Rehab Specialists with Lucy. I started with pain in my back, hip, knee and ankle. I was unable to get comfortable sleeping, and the pain felt like an electric shock down my muscles at times. Even getting in and out of the car was difficult, and it was painful to ride for over a half an hour. I used a cane for balance and was moving less and less. My doctor did not want me taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen daily, and recommended Rehab Specialists.

I have just recently begun physical therapy at Rehab Specialists. It has been an excellent experience is every way so far. The Rehab Specialists facility is easy to get to, and immediately conveys the friendliness, professionalism and efficiency you would hope to find at such a service. The reception process was upbeat, efficient, and friendly. My initial evaluation with Andrew Fate was excellent. He listened to my goals, concerns, and limitations, and designed a preliminary program for me that has been working very well. I have had an ongoing issue with my back since a fall on the ice almost two years ago. I've been to see my doctor, a neurologist, two other physical therapy places, chiropractor, and had injections in my lumbar spine. Nothing worked - until I went to Rehab Specialists. In just three weeks, I have already started feeling better, have more mobility, and feel like there just might be a light at the end of this tunnel. I just wish I had gone to Rehab Specialists sooner!

I went to Rehab Specialists due to knee pain. Initially I went for a free knee pain workshop they'd put on, which I followed up with an evaluation session. I started the treatment program going three days a week and doing a set of prescribed home-based exercises. As I started to improve, they cut my appointments back to two and then one session a week, and I graduated last week with my final session. My treatment program only lasted about two and a half months.

I have been very impressed with Rehab Specialists. I went in there after suffering from Tennis Elbow for almost six months. John Stephen, Clinic Director, made an initial assessment and recommended scheduling a series of appointments. John knows well to work in the area that I was suffering from. Now I am recovering well. I highly recommend this place for PT.

Allyson and Joe helped me stretch and strengthen tight muscles that were impeding my ability to hike and play sports. They tailored individual physical therapy for me as well as home exercises. I found them to be very intuitive and diligent. Without reservation, I highly recommend Rehab Specialists. Their care is well-deserving of 5 stars.

The worked me hard; and because they did, I feel more stable, more fit, and more conscious of my posture and health than I have in the last two years!
