Ed Sanchez, who has worked with windows since 1983, was employed by window manufacturers before starting his own window replacement company in 1986. As years passed, he found that replacement windows didn't last as long as original ones, and realized it was a better choice for homeowners to restore their original windows.
As a result, in 2000, Ed opened a new company, the first of its kind in Orange County, CA, called Window Restoration and Repair. As homeowners increasingly grew to maintain the original craftsmanship of their historic homes, the business grew, and Ed took on a business partner. In 2013 they sold the company which by then had an excellent reputation.

Services
Home Window Repairs fixes and restores wood, steel, aluminum and vinyl windows in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. We will restore your windows to make them energy efficient and fully operational, while keeping the character of your historic or newer building. 95% of all windows built since 1865 can be repaired, regardless of the material used to make the window.
Problem: You can't lock your windows because the sashes don't meet, and that affects the seal between the sashes. HWR (Home Window Repairs) Solution: We free up the top sash and align it. If the sashes have warped over time, so that they won't seal even after you can lock the windows, we'll fix that too.
HWR (Home Window Repairs) Solution: We refit the sashes to the frames to allow ease of movement, while allowing for future paint coatings. New silicone bulb weather-stripping is a big help in keeping things air tight, reducing noise control and buffering future home settling. Cause: Improper repairs have resulted in components being cut or sanded down, destroying the original proper seating of the bottom of the sashes.
HWR (Home Window Repair) Solution: We refit the sashes to the frames to allow for newer more pliable weather-strip. We lubricate or replace the hinges (if they are modern hidden hinges, we replace them, since they only last 10-20 years and are dangerous if they come apart.) If the hinges are the visible, historic type, we adjust the position of the hinges to the frames and sashes, and lubricate with a rust retardant.
Cause: The sashes warped, and/or the paint thickness built up, when the sashes were repainted over time. The home settled and the steel frames changed shape. HWR (Home Window Repairs) Solution: We remove paint and shave protruding metal on the bottom of the sashes and frames to bring the tops back to alignment.

Excellent service and excellent job!!! I was in a situation where I needed the services at a very short notice and Ed graciously accommodated my request. I spoke to a number of other service providers and Ed's services were the most reasonable, prompt and of highest quality. Even some of the other providers recommended Ed to me. He and his team was very efficient, professional and made my windows work like new. I was beyond impressed by the whole experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing any kind of window repairs.

Ed and his team were very professional, very attentive to detail, very pleasant, here on time, and cleaned up at the end of each work day. We have an old home (90 years) and the windows had never been repaired or refurbished, we are extremely pleased with the results, we can tell the insulation is much improved. Ed's knowledge and experience were evident and he is excellent at communicating with both his customers and workers; Mike and Cam are skilled workers and very friendly. We strongly recommend Home Window Repairs for any window work.
