Cafe Miranda
With small plates, large plates, and everything in between, Caf Miranda's humongous menu has something to satisfy everyone. We are a proud partner of Cooking for Community, an all-volunteer organization that raises money to hire restaurants to prepare healthy, nourishing, easy-to-reheat meals for people who need food, using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

Hannaford's Supermarkets has generously funded a pilot program of Cooking for Community in the Midcoast. At a time when things look to get worse before they get better, what is critical and unique about this initiative is it leverages and supports existing systems - restaurant kitchens, employees, farms, and social service agencies.
Services
In 1993, Chef/Owner Kerry Altiero decided to open a restaurant that is fueled by his passion for great food, multi-culture cuisines, his Italian heritage and Rockland, Maine. He and his family renovated the historic Owl Benevolent and Fraternal Club (an interesting story for another time) located at 15 Oak Street in the heart of downtown Rockland.
We appreciate your interest in working with us at Cafe Miranda! We are always looking for passionate and fun individuals to work with as front of the house and back of the house restaurant staff. My partner and I went to Cafe Miranda for the first time, to celebrate our 5th anniversary. The Cafe was still offering exclusively outdoor seating, which was perfect for two Covid-cautious celebrants.
The headline: the food was super and it was extremely cold outside! The fire pits gave out smoke and little heat, and the woodburning stove gave out neither. However, we're very grateful for Cafe Miranda and for the option to eat outdoors in December in Maine.
And now, the food. I had the deconstructed nachos and the vegetable thang. My partner had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables

Was just okay. Some cool menu options and a neat vibe, but ended up coming in for a late lunch and waited nearly an hour for the pork sandwich, and it was super under-seasoned. Neither the food quality nor the service seemed worth the price.

Honestly disappointed. Went to try to make a to go order since we never had tried here. Once they answered the instantly out me on hold. I waited 10 minutes then hung up to try again just to see they actually left the phone of the hook. Tried to call again a few times too. If you want business you need to actually do business. We will never try to get this place again.

We were looking for a place to eat in Rockland. We had stopped to check out a Cafe but it was packed. Then we smelled burning wood and saw what looked like a food trailer down an alley. We figured why not. We found a bunch of fire pits and some tables outside near the food trailer. They had a large menu with some awesome looking brunch items. They also had some interesting mixed drinks. So we ordered some brunch and had a seat at a table by a fire pit. The food was outstanding and the service couldn't have been better. The atmosphere was relaxed and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I

We love eating at cafe miranda. The fires and stoves outside in the winter keep things warm, and the fire smells wonderful. The food is delicious, and the portions are super generous. The leftovers always taste amazing. We love the staff and everyone is friendly and welcoming. This is not just a restaurant, but a wonderful part of the community.

Excellent drinks and amazing food. My wife and I shared the Chicken Jerry and it was so different, but so good. The girls loved their drinks and sitting outside was very nice. The only downside was the flimsy plastic utensils.

Had lunch last Thursday at this eclectic, very good, fresh cafe before visiting the Farnsworth museum.
We were fortunate the weather was fabulous but more importantly the cafe, the food , the people who make everything work were the best!
It is clearly not the easiest job; they are doing everything outside, cooking, seating, delivering the food. But doing a stellar job!

Not much to say on this one. Wife and I picked up take out. It was fine, but I don't even remember now what we had. (If it had been bad, I'd remember for sure!)

I remember the place was pretty busy, and the food took a while longer than they quoted us, but hey, it's a pandemic. Everything's slower than normal.

4 stars.

This is what $100 will get you at Miranda - lunch for 2 ordered at a truck window, served in small cardboard boxes with flimsy plastic utensils, where burnt fish and a sandwich with lobster bits are piled on soggy fries piled on tasteless slaw, and with canned drinks (no cups) to wash it all down. The final insult is when, while wearing a mask, you ask to use their restroom but are told no and instead directed to use the porta-potty near your outdoor dining table.

We found this place on accident and what an incredible find it was! Absolutely incredible menu with so many choices. The place operates out of a food truck and a building on the same location. Seating is outdoors so be prepared for that. My girlfriend and I had the Street Corn appetizer and the Curry Mussels to start. Very unique flavors and perfectly cooked. One entree was the "I Have To..." (or something like that) which is sautéed shrimp with chorizo and rice, beans, olives, peppers and more. Just amazing. The other was Lobster pasta and you can just tell they make the pasta themselves

Enjoyed the two fire pits on a cool evening. They're was a fun vibe. Inside seating was closed due to staff shortages so we ordered outside at the window across the street, sat outside and the staff brought our food to the table. Two of us really enjoyed our meals while the other two didn't think their food was anything special. Tastes vary!

The food and the staff were great. Despite being a rainy night, we were able to seat our family of five under the tent and enjoy dinner comfortably. It was tough to find a family restaurant that was open and we were extremely grateful for the food and service that the Cafe Miranda staff served up.

The 50 MPH tomato appetizer was good. Lobster sandwich was outstanding on the homemade focaccia bread. The classic goodness pasta dish with shrimp was solid if you are a garlic fan. The homemade pasta was great!!

We ordered Miranda's version of a Caesar salad...lettuce was wilted and extremely watery and the dressing was tasteless. The fish and chips we ordered was also a disappointment...fries were shriveled and cold... fish was barely tender. Food was served in a box. The wait for this unfortunate excuse for a meal was well over an hour. Best advice...don't bother with this place.

Very expensive for the service level and mediocre food. They got my order wrong and did not even check back to see if we were satisfied. Would not recommend.

Everything we ordered was excellent: spicy prawns with rice, crispy fried beef, scallops with chorizo and a wonderful pepperoni pizza. Cocktails were also excellent, with fantastic service. A great atmosphere with live music too.

We ordered the Tricolore pizza, which was dry, overcooked and burnt. For a homemade, gourmet pizza that was not inexpensive, it was very disappointing. Hoping it was just an off night.

After college, I lived in Rockland and Cafe Miranda was in my backyard...literally...I would walk out the back door and Cafe Miranda was across the lawn. It was great back then and I'm happy to say they are still great all these years later. I had one of their pizzas and a house salad which were both delicious. My friends all loved their dishes too. The outdoor seating arrangements for COVID are great. I'm so glad I came back and visited. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. Their menu is huge and varied. There's something for everyone.

I'm writing a review just because the chicken jerry is one of the best meals I've ever had. Tried a few other things here, all of the dishes have an amazing and thoughtful combination of ingredients. Super pleasing to the pallet. Highly recommend.

Had a great evening at Cafe Miranda. It was, of course, an outdoor event, but the festive lights and fire pits created a fun environment. The staff worked hard to serve customers and it was a relief to be able to socialize (with masks and social distancing). They had a few hot toddies on the drink menu, which fit the bill. My husband and I ordered hot soups - black bean and white bean, both excellent! Our friends ordered pizzas. We'll definitely go again.

Thank you Cafe Miranda for a wonderful night out during such a weird summer. We recently stopped by for your "Pizza on the Street!" Had wonderful pizza, salad, and some of the best Mac and cheese I ever tasted! Enjoyed it on the provided picnic tables on a beautiful evening!

I ADORE this funky, small, casual place that's very popular with the locals. Creative menu with lots of variety. HUGE portions. Very tasty food. Friendly service. Reservations needed for evening and expect a wait at lunch, but you might get lucky like we did. We enjoyed the Pozole and the Hot Mess, a brisket delight. The side salad was large, fresh, and flavorful. Highly recommend and check out both themed bathrooms while you're there.

Always come here. Since we can't get it in CA, I get haddock in Rockland so I went on an all haddock spree. First a haddock cake followed by a weird haddock chowder with a huge slab of haddock and 3 halves of a potato floating in a pan of cream sauce. Fish & chips was my main course & the haddock was large and good, along with more fries than anyone could possibly eat.
As always, I'll be back.
