Modern Cabinet Company was founded in 1945 by David Schor and two other partners. Acquiring an old stable on 125th Street in New York City as a site for the new company to work from they began manufacturing cabinets. By 1960, the two partners were gone and Modern Cabinet Company was supplying many builders in the NY metro area with their kitchens.
The factory (no longer a stable) had been expanded to include two adjacent buildings. In 1971 Modern Cabinet Company moved from NYC to Mt. Vernon. During this period, David Schor's son Andrew joined the firm. Andrew is the current Chief Executive Officer for Modern Cabinet Company. Another change took place during this period as well, Modern's customer base started shifting away from multi-family builders toward upscale private residential homes.

In order to achieve the custom look our clients desire for their space we offer several design styles. Beaded Inset (frame openings are lined with small beading adding an extra detail to your custom look). Euro Full Overlay: Majority of the face frame is covered which is very popular in European frameless cabinetry.

We had Modern Cabinets build and in stall our kitchen over 15 years ago and they still look and operate great. We are a family of 5 and we do a lot of cooking and entertaining so it’s not just a show kitchen it gets heavy use and all the draw and doors are in good condition. We have many other friends who have needed to repair or refinish after a similar time. The craftsmanship from Modern has held up under the test of time.
