Last Spring 2017, Celtic Masonry replaced the bluestone on 2 existing sets of stairs on the front of my home with granite. Right away within weeks, we noticed that there seemed to be water collecting underneath the granite which caused it to always look wet. When we contacted Jim Bresnahan at Celtic Masonry. He eventually came back and decided that the only solution was to drill holes under the lip of the top stoop. He came back and did that, but it never resolved the problem. Wow... Working with Jim Bresnahan and his team was a true pleasure. I had a detailed quote very quickly and he kept me updated regularly on his schedule. (No easy feat with the wet spring we had.) I chose to replace the failing concrete with granite. The layout that Jim designed is beautiful and the work is perfect. As with any old house, you never know what you're going to find until the demolition is done. For me, it was extra carpentry that was needed before the porch columns could be replaced. I was looking to install a ledgestone veneer on my fireplace, and quickly realized this project was a bit out of my DIY skillset.
