Sooner or later the ability to restrict intake breaks down, and the cycle of overeating and self-blame begins again. The more one diets, the more one ultimately eats or becomes obsessed with eating. When the diet is over, the weight will come back along with a progressively more unnatural eating problem.
A Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Diplomate in Clinical Social Work, a pioneer in the psychology of overeating, created The FACE Weight Loss Program in order to share with others the program that helped her successfully resolve her own struggle with weight 30 years ago. She has specialized in the field of addictions working with both eating disorders and substance abuse for over 27 years.
There are several criteria that were set by the National Institute of Health to determine who is appropriate for WLS. Your decision is much more complicated than a checklist. While the uninformed may suggest that WLS is the easy way out, there are in fact, many difficult aspects of the process right from the start.
FACE was very helpful in that it made me consciously aware of the thought processes that one uses when one makes the decision to eat or not eat. The process for saying 'no', the 'satisfaction' process, and the 'relaxation' process all have contributed to my success with weight control. This program has meant so much to me.
