We have returned to in-person learning and continue to maintain our commitment to staying outside as much as possible. We have been watching the latest recommendations from local public health agencies and been continuously updating our safety protocols. Whenever indoors for any period of time, we recommend mask usage and encourage social distancing.
We have added a new tent and outdoor heater and are using both of our classroom buildings as temporary warming stations during cold weather. It is imperative that all students come dressed for the weather every day. Please see this guide for recommendations on dressing children for the cold. Current Field Station families should watch their email for the latest updates.

The Field Station offers both two day and three day programs for preschool aged children. The two day class focuses on acclimating children to the classroom experience with hands-on activities, daily outdoor hikes, song, dance, and fun! The three day class focuses on kindergarten preparation, cooperation, listening skills, and like our two day class, daily outdoor hikes, song, dance, and fun!
Please watch the video below for an overview of our teaching philosophy, class offerings, cooperative structure, and registration process. If you have not used Zoom before, we recommend testing your setup in advance. Please see our Registration Page for more information on our registration process and tuition.
Join Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. McEvoy at the Field Station for our summer nature camp where we will focus on the local critters found around the Field Station. We will be scientists while exploring, observing and investigating interesting creatures like salamanders, frogs and toads, and insects from several different habitats.
Parents will be required to volunteer in the classroom approximately every three to five weeks depending on class size. If a parent cannot volunteer due to work/school schedule, a friend, family member or babysitter may fill in as long as they have a criminal background check complete prior to volunteering.

I love this place. It's a great hike. Not too taxing for newbies, but some interesting things to discover if you go off trail a little bit.
The trail takes you through a prairie, the woods, along some water and back. There's an elevated walkway, that keeps you out of the bog that is along the river, and sometimes it's completely surrounded on all sides by enormous plants, depending on the time of year. It's pretty cool. The landscape is always changing.
The trail itself is fairly well maintained. The path through the prairie is always trimmed low, and not muddy. The aforementioned raised walkway

Great school and from my experience, Field Station teachers go above and beyond then that of what traditional preschool teachers are capable of. This school does a fantastic job of learning thru art, song and outdoor activity vs traditional class time and recess way of learning. My daughters personality was transformed this past school year and I am grateful for the teachers and this learning faculty. A typical day includes hiking and scavenging for art supplies that will be used as art projects later that day, while reinforcing class time learnings. I have posted a few of my five year olds art
