In today's demanding world, we are frequently faced with stressors and pressures that challenge our ability to effectively maintain a balanced lifestyle, often resulting in emotional distress. Dr. Michael McFarland provides scientifically supported (i.e., evidence-based) treatments to deal with the wide array of difficulties facing adolescents and adults on a daily basis.

In addition to the treatment of mood disturbances and anxiety disorders, Dr. McFarland provides specialized expertise in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, tic disorders, emerging psychotic disorders, identity issues, and career counseling. Moreover, Dr. McFarland works with clients to effectively balance their many competing priorities.
Services
In the initial assessment, Dr. McFarland will evaluate the symptoms, precipitating events, personality traits, and family history relevant to the current difficulties of each client. If treatment is recommended, Dr. McFarland will describe specific, scientifically supported (i.e., evidence-based), therapeutic approaches that offer the greatest potential benefit.
Dr. McFarland has considerable expertise in the area of body image, eating, and exercise disturbances. In graduate school, he researched, published articles, and collaborated on a book chapter addressing aspects of male body image and eating disorders. In addition, during his Predoctoral Internship at Duke University, he worked extensively with undergraduate and graduate students dealing with these issues.
Dr. Michael B. McFarland is a counseling psychologist who is licensed in the state of Texas and practices in Dallas. He earned his Ph. D. from the University of North Texas Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program, an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited program. He provides individual, couple, group, and family therapy services to pre-adolescents, adolescents, and adults.
