The way in which your orthotics are made makes a difference. North Star Podiatric Lab manufactures foot orthotics according to the exact specifications prescribed by your foot care professional. The process of building a custom-made orthotic begins with a scan of the plantar aspect of the foot. North Star Lab uses the Automated Orthotic Manufacturing System (AOMS) process, pioneered by Sharp Shape.
Star STS and Sport Star Lite are high-performance sport orthotics designed with the athlete in mind. The Sport Star line of custom orthotics are specially manufactured to provide added comfort, support and control on the field and in the court.

Into this broad category fits all devices intended primarily to control foot pathology. The traditional rigid orthotic is the pure embodiment of biomechanical control. By definition, this device does not offer any cushioning or shock absorption. The demands of active patients have lead to the popularity of less rigid devices which trade-off some control for a critical measure of shock absorption.
Description: The Flex Star device functions excellently as a forgiving-orthotic combination. Very flexible Subortholene provides some positional control. A Poron arch fill with a 1/16 Poron extension to the sulcus enhances comfort. The shock absorption and accommodative uses for this device are popular among geriatric patients.
