Rayne's Sand & Gravel, Inc. is a family owned and operated business established in 1948. William D. Rayne and Mary E. Rayner purchased the company from Alton Charles Langton and renamed the company "William D. Rayne Sand & Gravel." In 1962 Mr. Rayne's younger son, Denman E. Rayne Sr., aka "Denny", began to work with his father.
In 1966, not long after Denny Sr. began to work with his father, Mr. Rayne passed away. On this day Denny Sr. and his wife, Jo Ann, purchased the business from Mrs. Rayne. Today, Rayne's Sand & Gravel, Inc. now owns 36 pieces of construction equipment and has grown into one of the largest excavation contractors on the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Rayne's Sand and Gravel located just west of Berlin, Maryland has been hauling sand, gravel, stone, rock, soil, and mulch to the local communities of Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Berlin, Salisbury, Snow Hill, and Bishopville since 1948. Absolutely the most unprofessional and dishonest place ever!! Wanted recycled asphalt and got nothing but dirt and rocks. Over figured how much was needed and delivered 2 ton to much, which again wasn’t needed but we were charged for. This was even after we called and questioned the number of tons. Went in office on next business day and they were not in the least willing to rectify the situation and were actually condescending. Place is run by young girls who have no clue on how to conduct good business.
