Point Del Mar Acupuncture
One benefit to acupuncture is that it is a drug-free way to minimize pain. With drugs, people often develop a tolerance, or the need for an increased dosage to achieve the same required effect. However, this does not happen with acupuncture. In addition, acupuncture allows the doctor to immediately examine a person's response to the treatment and adjust it if necessary.

Acupuncture decreases pain by increasing the release of chemicals that block pain, called endorphins. Many acu-points are near nerves. When stimulated, these nerves cause a dull ache or feeling of fullness in the muscle. The stimulated muscle sends a message to the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord), causing the release of endorphins (morphine-like chemicals produced in our own bodies during times of pain or stress).

Does acupuncture hurt? Acupuncture is performed with extremely thin, flexible stainless steel needles. It is nothing like receiving an ordinary injection. In some cases, you will not even know the needles are in place. If anything, you may feel some tingling, warmth, heaviness, or a feeling of the qi moving up and down the channels.
When I first saw Valerie in 2007 I was incredibly stiff with lop-sided shoulder blades, a limited range of motion in my neck, and I was also uptight & always anxious. The treatments helped in several noticeable stages- first the relaxation and "me time". I found that each treatment helped to increase my tolerance and ability to cope with the stress of my daily life (similar to the peace one would find through meditation or regular exercise).

Valerie is incredible, plain and simple. She is a master of her craft and also just the kindest human alongside it all.
I suffer from a wide variety of intermittent issues from my hips to my head after a car accident over 5 years ago. Valerie greeted me with empathy, sought to understand what was going on, and has been my go to trusted source when something feels off for several years.
Over the years, even sometimes in a single visit, I’ll go from hobbling into her office to walking our confidently with a smile.
I trust Valerie wholly and highly recommend her to anyone remotely considering

Valerie is the Best in Del Mar and even San Diego!!! She always takes her time to find out how i'm feeling and specializes where she is going to focus my treatment on. I cant believe how much I feel better after a treatment. I've done a sessions for stress and for pain. Each time I have the best sleep after and feel better almost instantly.
