Dobish Signs originated in 1932 when Peter Dobish, at 16 years of age, was called upon to provide for the family after his father's unexpected death. Peter started using his artistic talent to paint signs for butcher shops and other local customers in Aliquippa. Five years later, his younger brother, Russell, at age 12, also took up the trade.
Working together to support the family, their customer base grew and grew - and so did their business. That was until World War II, when both brothers were eventually called to duty. At war's end, Peter and Russell were back to making signs in Aliquippa. But when Peter found more interest in print advertising and press work, Dobish Signs became Russell's sole proprietorship.

With over 70 years of experience in the sign industry, we can give you comprehensive information on anything and everything pertaining to signage, from LED channel letters on the outside to nameplates and directories on the inside. Unlike some other sign and graphic businesses, we rarely outsource our sign installations. We are a full-service sign company that will complete your signs from start to finish. We have all the necessary tools and equipment for fast and proper installations. The advantage to doing our own installations is that we know all the hard work that went into making the sign.
Every type of sign has a different lifespan; but with any signage, there are ways to maintain sign quality and prolong its lifespan. The most common maintenance requested is florescent bulb or electric ballast replacement, but there are many other ways to make a sign last longer, regardless of the sign substrate.
More than likely, if your signage needs include an outdoor sign, whether stand alone or on a building, you will be required to obtain a permit from the local township or borough. Many sign vendors and clients decide to take the risk and install a sign without a permit, but we do not recommend this action.
