Chapter One has been an amazing experience for me. The artists I've worked with have been kind, friendly, and supportive. It can get a little pricy depending on what you want but it's well worth it especially if you want it done right! So far I've gotten two tattoos and both Olivia and Colton do great work!

Skip the learning curve of finding a good artist and go to Chapter One Tattoo in Ocean Beach, CA. During my 12 session vest tatt by Cash Scott, I saw some amazing work by him and his fellow artists. The shop is beautiful, clean, sterile and modern. I can't express how thankful I am for Cash and his crew for their professionalism, talent and cool vibes. Thanks C1- I'll be back.

I'm so over the moon happy with my experience here so far.
Colton has been AMAZING. He was really prompt in responding to my consultation request, and took my ideas for a Japanese style sleeve and turned them into something better than I could have imagined myself.
Because he's so in demand, my initial session was not supposed to be until this time next year, but Chapter One called last week to tell me that there was a last minute opening. Colton got the drawings for my sleeve done right away and was open to feedback (I didn't need to give any, they were perfect).

I had a wonderful experience with this shop. Chris patiently answered all of my unending questions before my first tattoo. And my artist, Casey, did a wonderful job! Not only is he super talented at his craft but he was chill, calm, and helped me feel at ease for my first tattoo. I was very nervous getting my first tattoo, but Casey was really great. He was patient and understanding and gave me a little time to collect myself before he started. He was also very detail-oriented about the placement of my tattoo (my ring finger)--making adjustments that I didn't even notice needed adjusting. The final result is beautiful, and I've already received compliments on it. He used my handwriting, so when I look at my tattoo, it looks like I wrote it on my finger, which is what I wanted. I'm a very satisfied customer!

Had a great experience here. Did a lot of research before deciding on where to get my tattoo and i am glad i chose chapter one. Isaac Combs did my tattoo and could not have been better. Met Isaac for a consultation and we spoke briefly about what my vision was for my tattoo was and he immediately came up with some ideas that intrigued me. Fast forword a couple months and Isaac Combs did a phenomenal job on my monopoly man tattoo. Very happy with Chapter one tattoo and the artist Isaac Combs. A+ experience. Thanks.

I've been slowly working on two pieces with Slava. He's absolutely amazing and accommodating. Everyone in the shop is highly talented, and there's pretty much every style you can think of is represented. The shop is clean and everyone is friendly. I would go here for years if it wasn't for moving across the globe!

Great experience. The shop has a super cool vibe and the staff were all friendly. I was able to make a same day appointment with a visiting artist from Texas (Sam Frederick). Sam was awesome and she did a great job. Really clean lines and sharp corners on a geometric design. I’d definitely go back and I highly recommend both the shop and Sam!

Got a special memorial tattoo done by Casey the other day on my foot. He even tried a method he had never done before and we were stoked when it worked out great! Awesome guy, amazing tattoo shop, everyone was chill and the place was clean and welcoming. Just wanna shout out Casey for the time he put in and the great work he does. Made the entire experience super easy and painless (kind of). Hit him up for any bespoke tattoo work! 5+++ stars.

I had Kenny, who custom designed this hand piece, and oh boy did he deliver!! I recently moved to San Diego, and it was overwhelming to find a good tattoo studio. But I spent lots of time researching, and Chapter One Tattoo, and my artist by extension, is definitely the best in town and where you should go!

Sad to say it is a shame to have such poor customer service. Once meeting with the artist Temo, he pretty much acted as if he really didn't care at all that I was there willing to pay anything for the tattoo I wanted. He did not show any effort whatsoever, to try to see if he could work with me. He was very arrogant and dismissive. I saw his portfolio online and was willing to wait and pay anything for my tattoo but the way he treated me was not okay. He seemed annoyed and again did not put any effort into trying to work with me. He might be talented, he most likely does not need my business but

Ontop of that,wasn't willing to even help with the concept of the tattoo,even after sorting these details out via email before making the 100+ mile drive.
The flat fee doesn't seem worth the price when it comes to the dull/lack of customer service that you get.
The shop however was really well kept,pristine, and aestheticaly pleasing!
That was really the only highlight of the trip out there.
I'm sure the other artists are very warm and also very talented

We found the tattoo shop that we are looking for. We started out here last October 2020 for our first sessions and end up with 2 more and more coming up. I mean, this place is beyond expectations.
Customer Service- send them email for consultation and you will get a reply right away.
Cleanliness- Very clean, you can smell the minute you take your first steps inside. With Covid restrictions everyone is wearing mask ofcourse. Sanitation in each station is applied everytime with each client. You see it with your own eyes.
Artists- I must say I have my favorites..... by far the most professional

I’ve had three tattoos done here. Loved them all! Had my mom’s name and lotus with om done by DEXX. The skull by guest artist ASH. I get compliments all the time on them and def recommend for anyone wanting quality work done. Cool shop and you can smell the cleanliness walking in. Everyone’s work is amazing. Looking forward to getting a sleeve done in the near future with SLAVA, I’m in love with his art that I’ve seen on instagram 😍

While travelling around the world i always search for a good spot to get tatted up and give myself a remembrance. i decided to go to chapterone because of its flair. clean location, ocean beach style interior and the whole image of a great tattoo studio/parlor make the people working in there. everybody is friendly and always ready for a good talk! i got the chance to get my tattoo from Gary aka @daggerface (nice story by the way gary!) a few days before appointment, i already gave him my ideas and he really did it that way with his own signature of cali style - OB style!
