Althea makes it a priority to ensure all patients are receiving the best preventive care both in the office and at home. In her spare time, Althea stays busy taking care of her two daughters. She graduated from Wytheville Community College in 2013 after working in the medical field since 2000. She also holds a B. S. in Human Relations and Business.

Sensitivity to temperature or pain while chewing can be a sign of tooth decay. After an X-Ray is taken to determine where the decay is located on the tooth, the decay is removed from the tooth and restored with either amalgam or composite filling. At Cook Family Dentistry, we offer both amalgam (silver) and composite (tooth colored) restorations.

Not sure why they have such negative reviews, my experience was fine, it just doesn't warrant a 5 Star experience.
Came for a cleaning and check up. Had to fill out some initial paper work and waited a bit before I was seen. My technician was nice and did well cleaning with no pain, but she commented multiple times about my wisdom teeth and how I should have them removed because they will just cause issues. I have had my wisdom teeth for years and have not had issues.
Then the dentist came in and said I have a cavity which got my heart racing because I have never had a cavity before and

First, a friendly nurse took X-Rays, then Dr. Martini came and immediately told me that tooth number 30 needs root canal. She did not spend more than 2 minutes examining my tooth. Then, she referred me to two Endodontist in Blacksburg.
Luckily, I chose another Endodontist in Roanoke (Dr. Bagby). Dr. Bagby took another series of X-Rays and after a thorough examination, she told me that my wisdom tooth is the problem and it needs to be extracted and tooth number 30 just needs filling.
I hope no one else has the same experience there as I had.

I decided to find a local dentist since I rarely go back home during a time my hometown dentist is available. I was very pleased with the service provided at this location. The routine cleaning went smoothly and they also let me check out the x-ray results. Had to get a new filling as well as replace an old one and both went really well. I was surprised it didn't hurt as much as it has in the past at my old dentist. They're schedule tends to be pretty packed so keep that in mind when trying to book appointments. I definitely plan on coming back... But mostly I'm excited that I can
