Architectural Grade Soapstone is practically indestructible. Soapstone is naturally antibacterial, it will not burn or stain and requires very little maintenance. Acids and alkalis will not etch soapstone as they will other stones. Soapstone has been a part of American homes since the early 1800's; many homes today still contain working soapstone sinks and wood stoves built over 100 years ago.
What is Soapstone? Soapstone (steatite) is a naturally occurring metamorphic rock made up of mineral deposits created by nature and quarried from the earth. The main mineral components in soapstone include talc, chlorite, dolomite and magnesite, giving a warm, soft feeling to the touch. When cut, it oxidizes from light grey to dark charcoal in color.

Humming Bird Soapstone was great, start to finish!! Very communicative, helpful, easy to work with from the first communication until we said good bye. Fast response time. But the best part...we LOVE our new soapstone kitchen counters and sink. They are beautiful! We have had them now for a couple months and could not be happier. All around, great experience!

Hummingbird did an amazing job on our bathroom vanities and doors! I couldn’t be happier with the quality of their design. I agree with the reviewer below that their cabinets are pieces of furniture. They are true craftsmen. We chose soapstone countertops as well. Soapstone has been in kitchens for over 100 years and has a beautiful earthy feel to it. Hummingbird carries architectural grade soapstone which is the highest quality for countertops. I would highly recommend working with them.

This company is completely amazing. You might be thinking you can source some soap stone from them, and you would be right. But there is so very much more to say.
This company is an absolute gem, not only can they source soap stone, fabricate soap stone, make anything you want from soap stone, but they can also make your custom kitchen cabinets, not only that but they can fully manage your entire building, addition, remodel project from start to finish. We could not have had a better experience working with Humming Bird Soapstone. Mike especially went above and beyond, and exceeded our expectations with his attention to detail. We worked with Humming Bird not only for their quality soapstone countertops (which we love), but also for their kitchen cabinets which are more like beautiful pieces of furniture. The entire Humming Bird team is very professional, knowledgeable, and creative. I was looking for soapstone for my kitchen, found Hummingbird by accident - a happy one! We went to see their soapstone in the warehouse and saw some kitchen cabinets they had on display and fell in love with them. We ended up getting the whole kitchen designed and built by Humming Bird, including soapstone counter tops. Their cabinets are more like furniture, with great attention to details and high quality. Working with Mike Wilson was a pleasure. After our kitchen was done we had them design and build a new bathroom vanity with soapstone counters. I would not hesitate working with them again
