Located in the Front Range city of Aurora, Colorado, Strait Lumber Co. has been family owned & operated since 1936 and boast's the honor of being Aurora's oldest continuing business. In the beginning, Seth O. Strait moved his family of five from Aberdeen, South Dakota to the small mountain town of Copper Spur, Colorado in 1929, the heart of the depression.

Strait Lumber has been a community leader since our opening in 1936. The customer service at this place is amazing! They helped me make a better decision on the type of wood I was getting for the project (they could have just not cared and gone with what I was planning on originally). Albert was the most Customer Unfocused Individual I have ever had the opportunity to deal with. I needed to replace a lock on my sliding glass door. Albert said he had never heard of my builder...who cares who the builder is Albert? Instead of trying to help me, Albert chose to tell me that my builder should be calling Strait Lumber. Albert, I have news for you, my builder suggested that I contact your company directly. Albert it will never happen again. I'm actually glad Home Despot didn't have what I needed. It allowed me to find this place. The staff is considerate and helpful and the lumber is way better quality that that found at "big box stores".
It's a bit of a hike from my home but well worth the trip. I encourage the casual DIY person to buy lumber here!!
