Base Camp Family Campground is owned and operated by the Norris Family. The Norris brothers, Kevin and Mitch, first came to Southern Colorado in the early 80's to climb Blanca with some friends, and have been vacationing here ever since. They bought the Base Camp Ranch property and moved here in 2016.
They're using all they've learned from years of RVing adventures, to achieve the park's mission of providing a clean, affordable, spacious, well-run camping facility, and to be a centrally located "base camp" and hub of information for everything this unique area has to offer.

Services
Base Camp is just 7 miles from Alamosa, which has over 60 restaurants, gas, Walmart, Safeway, etc. Base Camp is a new park. We have planted trees at each RV site, but they are not mature. There is no grass in the campground. We've tried to keep it as natural as possible with the native high-desert shrubs and sand.
You'll find the highpoint of 12 counties in the the range, as well. Two ofNorth America's classic climbscan be found in the Sangres: Crestone Needle'sEllingwood Areteroute andThe Prowon Kit Carson Peak. Other well regarded technical routes in the range include theLittle Bear to Blanca Peak traverseand Ormes Buttress onBlanca's incredible north face.

We stayed here a few nights and wish we had more time but the weather interfered and we got there two days late. Great location and very clean. Views were great and the camp host were very kind. The facilities, showers, bathrooms, laundry were all very clean and well maintained. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!! Quiet and very large sites.

We throughly enjoyed staying at Base Camp Family Campground. I really liked the text messages and emails, it was great to be informed of what we could/couldn't do based on the weather. It was also conveniently located it was about 20 minutes from everywhere we wanted to go. It was also nice to be able to check-in anytime. The campground was clean and the facilities were nice. If I could give this campground 10 stars I would, we will definitely come back to Base Camp the next time we're in the area. Thank you for a great campground!

Loved this place! The sites are huge! What a great view too! Bathhouse was really clean and I loved that the showers were private with locking doors. Would totally stay here again! My only suggestion would be to place signs above the washer/dryer area with approximate running time for each. I had to wait for a washer and a dryer because people were not there to move their load. And I too had no idea how long it would be so I kept running up to check on my washer or dryer as I didn't want to cause a backup either. But the washer/dryer area was super clean and reasonable!

What a beautiful place. What exceptional staff! We had a snafu in our reservation there, (our fault) and the camp hosts went beyond their expected roles to help us rehook and move our trailer. They even let us dry-camp when there wasn't a space with hookups for us. They let us use their wonderful WIFI and bathrooms while we dry camped! I would stay here again and again if we travel this way.
