Services
The Snowy Range Vision Center optometric practice began in 1966 when Dr. James A. Boucher purchased the practice of local optometrist Dr. A. Docter, who had been practicing in Laramie since 1939. The original practice was in the Converse Building on Ivinson Street. In 1967, the 1st National Bank bought the Converse Building.
The American Optometric Association recommends a yearly eye exam for adults - not only to detect and diagnose vision changes or problems - but also to maintain eye health. For example, glaucoma, a disease caused by increased pressure in the eye, commonly goes unnoticed by adults. Regular vision examinations are also important for the prevention of vision problems created or aggravated by today's academic and professional demands.
The American Optometric Association recommends that pre-school children receive a complete vision exam at the ages of six months, three years and five years. It is particularly important that a child have a complete evaluation in the summer prior to entry into Kindergarten. While in school, yearly evaluations are recommended.
It is estimated that 45 million people in the United States wear contact lenses. Contacts can improve your eyesight, give you freedom from glasses, and even boost your self-confidence. It's important to note that these are medical devices that must be properly fitted to your unique corneal shape and curvature - as well as your unique prescription.
We evaluate a variety of eye related injuries and are always available for emergency eye services. We see patients of all ages in a caring and gentle manner. In addition to our emergency services we manage the treatment to patients that require long term care. Maintaining eye health is vital to good vision and to achieving your full potential in everything you do.

Had not had my eyes check for about 10 years and was very pleased with the doctor. She was helpful and didn't push me towards contacts or glasses but made suggestions. My only downside of my visit was the young lady who helped me choose glasses wasn't as helpful as I would like in choosing frames and such. She could have educated herself more to help people choose frames good for certain face shapes, or just been better observant of my style to help choose ones that might have worked. She was hesitant but okay. Over all my visit wasn't bad by any means.

I went in for an eye infection along with a follow up appointment the following day. The doctor herself, Sue, was great and very helpful and knowledgeable. However upon leaving after my follow-up visit, my experience at the front desk was not as pleasant. After my previous appointment, the 1st receptionist explained to me that my co-pay was not listed on my card and they would have to call in to find out how much I actually owed after insurance and offered to bill me and verified my address and phone number. Checking out after my second visit there was a black haired receptionist who I can only

This place gets 0 stars. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional group of people. They are not HIPPA compliant, and will hold your prescription hostage until insurance clears. They are overpriced, and the office staff is rude. They have a policy of not releasing prescriptions based on outstanding balances. This is illegal, and I am currently filing complaints with the FTC, HIPPA, and the BBB. On top of that, make sure you know exactly how your insurance needs to be billed because their "billing lady" will just resubmit it for 7 months. Had they billed my insurance correctly to begin

This review is primary for Dr. Gary Poteet. While traveling to Laramie to visit my family I experienced an eye injury and needed immediate care. Dr. Poteet and his staff were gracious enough to work me into the schedule on a weekend and provide emergent care. He saved me from much discomfort, was very friendly, and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. Such a stellar experience.

Made an appointment for my son. Rearranged our weekly schedule for the appointment, only to show up and not even be in their system! They said that we had no appointment. Super disappointing and frustrating. We will not return and I have made an appointment somewhere else.

I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years. About a year ago, I went in with an irritated eye, and the doctor recommended that I switch from contacts to glasses, since that would allow time for my eyes to adjust. I took issue with that -- glasses are not cheap, and I found it odd that only one eye was having problems, which the doctor did not address in his diagnosis.

Turns out I'm allergic to the brand of contacts I was using. I switched brands, and all the problems in that eye went away. When I went again to the doctor (Dr. Poteet, who I was surprised would say this), he said that
