The Thornbury Bakery Caf has been a landmark on the main street in Thornbury since ~1901. Originally known for our Chelsea Buns, Cinnamon Buns, Chop Suey Buns and Butter tarts, our bakery is now known for our full breakfast and lunch menu items, custom cakes, catering, specialty gluten-free and keto breads, and so much more.
Our baker's start in the very early hours of the night producing everything from scratch, 7 days a week. Here at the Thornbury Bakery, quality means everything to us. Thornbury Bakery Cafe is a proud part of the infamous Apple Pie Trail - a scenic and delicious trail through The Blue Mountains that showcases our local apples in a variety of food and drink. Come and visit us and try our Red Prince Apple Pie! This 15km trek starts & ends here at the Bakery. It will take you through some of the most beautiful views in the area and some of the tastiest foods, too!

I actually really loved this place. Their food was good, and I liked the space, but I wanted to post because I gave my 3 year old son a muffin after sitting down, and just as he was peeling it apart, I saw something shiny in it.
I took a closer look, and there was a metal shard in there. It seemed to have come from a mixer or something that had worn part of itself off.
We alerted the staff who simply took the muffin back, apologized, and carried on (it was busy I guess?).
Not really sure how to play this one as it's clearly a great spot, and I suppose this kind of thing can happen... But it

Ordered 2 sandwiches, and a chili.
Waited almost 20 minutes for the order, outside, in the cold, the chili was forgotten, and after spending close to $40, learned that customers are NOT permitted to use the bathroom.
It should be illegal to operate a restaurant/cafe/bakery and not allow customers washroom access. Most definitely will never come here again.

In short: Prices are way too high, little to no care put into the food, service is meh, way better options in town.

Prices. Are. Insane. I get it is COVID and everyone is struggling, but we spent $50 for 2 small sandwiches ($22), 2 small sized drinks that were nothing special ($12), a cupcake and muffin ($10). I could've made everything we got 5 times over for $50. Should've been half that price IMO.
Ingredients are decently fresh, but when your sandwiches are slapped together with no care (fell apart before I even opened the to-go container), and things put on that you didn't want, or

Food is great but they don't seem to get the order right. 2 days ago ordered all the sandwiches with cheese except for 1. None had cheese. Got charged the extra topping anyway. Yesterday ordered all sandwiches with salami, they all had tuna for some reason. I wouldn't be annoyed normally but since cheese and meat is a lot extra $ I feel it's worth mentioning.

This bakery has it all!! They have a very serious frozen section - you can seriously stock your freezer for breakfast lunch and dinner from here!
The Fresh offerings are ample - full meal take aways for breakfast lunch or dinner. The front cabinets are full of bread, buns, and lots of sweet desserts! The barristas offer great hot espresso, coffee and tea beverages as well cold !
We have just bought a home in the area and I think this is our new “go to” ! Fast and friendly!! Check it out!!
