APPLY: Short Term Health Insurance: We offer two different short term health insurance plans from two different carriers. The IHC Arizona short term health insurance plan offers $2 million in coverage for up to three years. IHC is the only short term plan offered by Blue Cross of Arizona. To be clear, IHC is not BCBSAZ coverage.

The Pivot Arizona short term health insurance plan offers $1 million in coverage for up to two years of continuous coverage. Governor Ducey signed SB 1109 recently. Better still, the new law allows renewals of short term plans not to exceed 36 months. This is great news! Individuals and families will now be able to insure themselves between Open Enrollment periods with one policy as opposed to multiple AZ.
Services
Welcome to Michael Higgins Insurance, LLC., a health insurance agency with more than 39 years of experience. Michael Higgins offers individuals 65 years of age and over Medicare supplement plans from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. BCBSAZ now offers Plan G. The only difference between the plan G and the plan F is that the Part B Medicare deductible of $185.00 is not covered on the G plan.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona offers several small group health insurance plans in 2019 with the largest PPO provider networks. 70% of full-time employees must enroll unless they have qualifying coverage elsewhere, such as through a spouse, their own individual policy, or AHCCCS. BCBSAZ no longer offers small group plans to two-person groups that are married, the group must have at least one common law W2 employee that enrolls as well.
Small employers in Arizona with less than 50 employees are faced with ever increasing health insurance premiums. Thankfully, there are several advantages with offering group coverage, benefits not available to the employee if purchasing their own individual plan. For 2019, it is likely in the employer's best interest to offer a small group policy for their employees.
Over the counter drugs can no longer be purchased with Arizona HSA funds, unless prescribed by a physician. The federal penalty for using Arizona HSA funds for things other than qualified medical or dental expenses is now 20%, up from 10%.

In 2003 the Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act expanded the Arizona HSA health benefits available to consumers such as the self-employed and employer groups of any size by authorizing the use of health savings accounts, known as "HSA"s.
