Paul Beatty Jewelers in downtown Punxsutawney has been a familiar local establishment since 1950. After being discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1947, Paul Beatty, a lifelong resident of Punxsutawney, decided to utilize the G.I. bill by attending the Thacker Academy of Watchmaking in Pittsburgh. Paul Beatty Jewelers first opened its doors in September of 1950.
We went to Pittsburgh out to dinner, and after we ate we rode the Monongahela Incline up to Mt. Washington! As I was enjoying the view from one of the lookout points. I kept hearing Danny say Sapphire. Hey, Sapphire and as I looked over, he was down on one knee. The rest is history! Pittsburgh is a special place to us, as I had lived there for 5 years, and the first year of our relationship was long distance.

Grandparents have been doing business here for 50 years. Got altercations done to my grandmother's ring. Took twice as long as originally quoted, said it had to go to NY? I've paid less money to a lawyer and been more satisfied. Wont ever be going back. Leave it to a guy not named Beatty to eventually kill a hometown business.
