I started working for a local lawn care company in 1985. I worked on a mowing crew for 2 years. I started applying fertilizer and weed control in 1986. It was a great seasonal job that allowed me to work my way through high schools and college. I graduated Calvin College with a bachelor's of science degree in Accountancy in 1993.
I worked the summer of 1993 fertilizing lawns and took a job in the fall at Source Club (Meijers' attempt at a warehouse club). When I was at Source Club for one month, they closed their doors. I decided that my heart was in lawn care. I started Tuff Turf in January of 1994. I knocked on doors and hung a lot of flyers advertising my service.

I started Tuff Turf Molebusters in 1994 and I have been working in the lawn care industry since 1985. Both my wife and myself grew up in Grand Rapids and attended Calvin College.
Our granular fertilizer is synthetic organic fertilizer that has natural organic filler. All of our applications are phosphorous-free. Broad leaf weed control is liquid and only applied where it is needed. For your convenience, we notify you by email a day or two prior to each service. Fertilized lawns are healthy lawns. Healthy lawns depend on a number of lawn care factors including adequate water, sunlight, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and proper mowing. Lawn growth also depends on various nutrients or essential elements absorbed by roots from the soil. When the soil is not providing adequate supplies of the essential elements, fertilizer can be applied to maintain optimum growth.
Maintaining a healthy, vigorously growing lawn is the best way to prevent a lawn disease outbreak in turfgrass. Each square foot of turf contains about 500 to 1,000 individual plants, each requiring optimum amounts of water and fertilizer, the right mowing program, and an aerated, well-drained soil.

We have been using Tuff Turf Molebusters' mosquito service for the past 3 seasons and are very satisfied with the company. The product they use is very safe for our family, dog, and yard. We still see plenty of butterflies and bees visiting our yard, but we never see mosquitoes. We really appreciate not having to use bug spray to enjoy time in our yard. Anyone we have talked to on the phone at Tuff Turf has been very friendly and easy to talk to, and not at all like talking to a "customer service" person reading off of a script. Spent over $800 over two seasons (16 visits) for their mole service which was useless. Moles still taking over yard. When I called they said I could sign up for another round of service for an addition cost, if not there was nothing more they could do.
I am happy to give this update. I was contacted by the area manager. They did come out and put out traps for 4 additional sessions at no charge. They were able to catch four moles in that time. I have not seen a new trail since. Thank you for making it right.

I have to let everyone know that the man that did the work for us is named Joe, he is very respectful and very professional. Always willing to answer your questions. I have had him out here twice and decided to do a full year.i haven’t seen a trace of a mole since I signed up for the service. Thank you Tuff Turf Molebusters and thank you again Joe.
