Services
Sowiecki Funeral Home was founded in 1935 by Sylvester P. Sowiecki and his wife, Anne B. (Tokarz) Sowiecki. Together, they owned, operated and occupied the funeral home at its present location, 69 West Britannia Street in the Whittenton section of Taunton. After Sylvester's passing, his wife Anne continued the legacy of service, until her passing in 2010.
A funeral service is a special time for family and friends to comfort one another, begin to find healing and celebrate a life well lived. Whether you choose burial or cremation, you can hold a funeral service to honor your loved one. We are happy to provide a traditional funeral or something completely unique.
Richard began working in the funeral service industry at the age of 15 with a funeral home in the East Bay area of RI.
He had begun his apprenticeship while in High School at the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Homes a family owned firm of Providence and Warwick, Rhode Island with a team of highly regarded funeral directors and embalmers; Lawrence "Larry" Quintal, Thomas C. Boyle, William H. McGrath, Thomas N. Goodwin, Kevin G. Reilly, Jack Millea, and John Larkin.

Whether you are pre-planning for yourself or choosing for a loved one, a casket selection is a very personal decision and an expression of your feelings. A casket that reflects the personality and taste of your loved one can be your final tribute to their life. We understand these needs and offer a wide variety of caskets that can help make your selection truly personal.
Filing death certificate, notify Social Security, and securing and obtaining necessary documents. Transfer from place of death into our care (additional mileage $3.25 after 25 miles and $95 for additional staff member that may be required for transportation from a residence). Embalming (Additional $125 for autopsy cases, organ donation cases, and infectious disease).

During our time of sorrow Mr. Richard and his associates at Sowiecki Snyder Home of funerals helped my family and I through a tough time they over saw all arrangements for my beautiful baby brother (Todd Horton’s) services they were very respectful and handled all arrangements with class respect , and dignity . Despite being my half brother, Richard took care of my father as if he were his own. From pre-planning and answering any questions I had… to picking my father up from hospice personally. He even played my father his favorite song while in his company. For such a hard time, Sowiecki-Snyder funeral home handled everything respectfully and professionally. Above and beyond. I was extremely impressed with the exceptional service I received recently from Sowiecki-Snyder Home for Funerals & Cremation Service for my brother-in-law's service. Director Richard was professional, caring, helpful, detailed oriented, and informative every step of the way. He was able to make the process seamless for me; and allowed my family to grieve. He bridged two families apart due to the pandemic; and reunited my brother-in-law back to his family overseas and to his final resting place. I cannot say enough how grateful and appreciative I am for the service I received there.

I am a licensed funeral director in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and have held these licenses for the past 28 years (I am now 48 years old). I am the owner of the Spilker Funeral Home, Cape May, NJ. Recently, we needed help in the area of where Sowiecki-Snyder Funeral Home is located. We needed a "Cape May loved one" transferred from their place of passing and the "initial preparation work" performed before our loved one from Cape May could be transported via commercial airlines. My brother passed away in RI and I was given Sowiecki-Snyder a place to call for help as I live in Ky.. Richard took care of everything..I could not have done everything on my own..Things needed to get done before I could even leave Ky..He took care of everything..He definitely goes the extra mile or in my case a lot of miles for people...

Richard is a patient, experienced & honest man. I had no idea what I was doing when I was trying to send my loved one who passed away to Puerto Rico. He made me feel comfortable and confident that he can get the job done and he did! Communicated at ALL times and gave my family and I updates. Despite all the family issues along the way he made it work! I will not be going to any other funeral home. Best one around!

I could not recommend more highly. Richard was there for me from the first moment. It was an extremely difficult time and Richard was very compassionate, understanding, and responsive. I am so thankful that he was there at every turn as I had no idea what was needed or how to proceed. He consistently went above and beyond my expectations. Richard was a true comfort to me as he always made me feel his genuine concern. I could not have asked for more.
