Avena Integrative Medical Center is a wholistic medical practice in Putnam, CT, focusing on improving health and preventing disease through the practice of naturopathic medicine. At the Avena Integrative Medical Center, we practice a model of medicine that combines the diagnostic tools and technologies from conventional medicine as well as emerging tests and tools that help us to identify the critical imbalances that are the root of all illness.

Cindy joined the Avena team in 2012 bringing 26 years of progressive healthcare experience with her. She began her career working for a busy primary care practice where she stayed for 17 years. After graduating with an Associate's Degree from QVCC, she took a new position in 2003 working for Physician Practices at Day Kimball Hospital.
All licensed naturopathic physicians are educated and trained at accredited naturopathic medical schools in the art and science of natural healthcare. Naturopathic physicians use the same techniques as conventional physicians in order to diagnose disease, which include thorough patient history, physical exams and laboratory testing.

The staff at Avena are always kind and patient. Dr.Monette has helped me with stomach issues that no other doctor has been able to do over the past 20 years. She is very encouraging and has been consistent in finding treatments to resolve any medical issues that arise. I would highly recommend Avena medical center.

This place is falling apart. I've been shuffled around to THREE doctors in the last year alone and the third doctor is now leaving as well. At the height of covid I even saw maskless docs and receptionists. The final straw for me was hearing a friend of mine who sees dr. Monette describe how she blamed high cholesterol on too much blue-light. I'm done with this place...A total joke.

Yesterday I traveled an hour to this facility willing to pay out of pocket to get help with pain. The two receptionists at the front desk were not wearing masks and I saw another employee enter without putting a mask on either. I decided to protect myself and leave so I am unsure about the intelligence of the person who was scheduled to treat me. I HAVE NO FAITH OR TRUST IN MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS THAT WOULD CHOOSE NOT TO WEAR A MASK DURING A PANDEMIC. I left with more pain and additional stress. I had to cancel an appointment with the "dr" because my partner was hospitalized with terminal cancer. A few months later I received a bill for cancelling the appointment. The fee was $25.00. I called the office and asked to have the fee waived due to the circumstances. The receptionist stated that the fee could not be waived. I called several times to try to resolve this matter to no avail. My partner passed away a short time later. I was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, had an MRI scan two days prior to my appointment at Avena. I received a phone call at 4pm the night before my appointment from my doctor that there were some abnormalities found in my scan. As you can imagine I am literally scared for my life.
