STD coverage provides a weekly benefit to covered employees when they are unable to work due to a non-occupational sickness, injury or pregnancy. Benefit waiting period: once this period of disability is over, the employee's benefit begins. Waiting periods are typically six days or thirteen days for accident and sickness.

My wife and I have only been living in the US for 3 years, so the whole health insurance thing is still very confusing to us. Jaymar has a great website about the Obamacare options in New York and when I called to get help, I was done in 30min - Jason conferenced-called New York State of Health while I was on the line, sorted out the problem we were having and got us on new plans that same day. Very impressive, no messing around, great guy to have on your side. Honestly a god-send to us.
