Do you suffer from neck pain? There are many causes of neck pain including injury, swelling, misalignment, or joint / spinal diseases such as arthritis and stenosis. The causes of neck pain can vary. Often, an injury occurs during everyday activities such as driving. A car wreck can cause swelling in the area, but may not be noticed for a few days or even longer.
Poor posture, overuse, and/or muscle weakness are often causes of spinal dysfunctions leading to back pain. Physical therapy or back rehabilitation can ease the pain of a spinal problem. Back pain can often be lessened by maintaining proper body alignment. Although she probably was not thinking about it at the time, your mom's advice of sitting up straight with your shoulders back could actually save you a trip to the doctor or to us.
Neurological rehabilitation involves the treatment of injuries and diseases to the central nervous system such as stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), spinal cord injury, and others. When these conditions affect a person's function, physical therapy can typically help regain some or all of the person's prior level of independence.
Pediatric physical therapy is the treatment of children under the age of 18 years old. Some children may have a severe loss of function such as the inability to control their head while others may have less obvious conditions manifesting itself in the inability to sit or walk at the normal age. Balance and posture are evaluated, among other age appropriate mile stones to determine the treatment best suited for the child's needs.
