CTCA is part of a growing movement of about 200 community-style clinics in North America. We believe you have the right to feel healthy with low-cost acupuncture that fits into your budget.
We are able to keep our prices low by using a community acupuncture model-- offering individualized treatments in a quiet group setting. This is closer to the way acupuncture traditionally is practiced in China. We have a sliding fee scale ranging from $30-$60 per treatment for community acupuncture service.

Since 2011, we have offered effective and affordable acupuncture in New Haven, North Haven and the surrounding areas. We believe that natural medicine can be helpful and accessible to all. Natural medicine is not meant to be a luxury treatment. It's also the preventive medicine- should be integrated into your life's style and routines, like eating heathy, going to the gym, or meditation.
Zhihong Shang is Licensed Acupuncturist in Connecticut and she is nationally board certified as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine by the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She is specializes in acupuncture, Chinese herbology, and a variety of other Chinese medical modalities geared towards promoting patients' optimal physical and emotional health.
Community Acupuncture is a nationwide movement striving to make acupuncture affordable and accessible. Patients receive acupuncture in groups while seated in comfortable recliners. This group experience creates a collective healing energy that enhances the power of each individual's treatment. Also group setting allows our practitioner to see more patients in a hours to keep our rate low.
Please wear comfortable and loose fitting clothing that can roll easily above your elbows and knees. If you come for community acupuncture service, you will receive your acupuncture treatment in a large, quiet room. We will speak in whispers and keep our talking to a minimum to maintain quiet and peace.
The National Institutes of Health and the World Health Organization recognize acupuncture as an effective treatment for about four dozen common condition. Acupuncture is very safe. CTCA only uses disposable, sterile, stainless steel acupuncture needles and used disposable needles discarded properly in sharps containers.

During my first appointment, Hong spent a lot of time assessing my pain. I went in unable to sit on both glutes, I was leaning due to intense one-sided lumbar back pain (inflammatory). She did lots of cupping and acupuncture. Although it wasn’t a miracle cure, I was able to sit flat on my bum afterward, which I had been unable to do for a few days. I went back today for my second treatment where she further treated my back as well as my knees (which I had no idea were so intertwined with the issues in my back until she touched there). I have been a regular client of CTCA since 2013. Hong has played an instrumental part in keeping me healthy; she has treated me for everything-- major, minor and all things in between. Even when I do not have a specific issue, I still get acupuncture treatments for maintaining health and preventing illness. Hong is an expert in the field.
